  1. I am planning to do a 64bits version. I am working very hard, and I posted some updates to the joejoe.org site. I will post an update here soon, I'll release a video of this project running this weekend. Anyways: I am planing to do a 64 bits version. The goal of this project is to replace explorer, I can't say intierly but the most of it. The first Alpha's it won't be replaced fully, but there will be made some modifications. I am also planning a new sort of DWM interface, ShellParty. It now just handles the Futurum Shell, but I hope it will do other applications too later. I don't now if I'll include it in the first Alpha, but it will be in the first beta. Caelestis
  2. Windows Code Name "Futurum" Dear members of this board, I all want to say hello first because I am a new member, and I want to introduce you to my work. I am making a sorta customized version of Windows. It will contain a new shell, and other stuff, it is made to represent the vision of what Windows and particulary Vista should have been. It will feature a new shell and other eye-candy but will run stable. This is what features it should include. * A new shell (wich means there won't be need for explorer, ft. new start menu, etc...) * Customizing (Themes, dll modifications, etc) * A new explorer (containing much easy to use features in a new style) * Edit of Shell Folders (Recreation of shell folders like Control Panel) * New Apps: Folder Synchroniser, rebuilt Remove Programs, Customized Desktop Search integration, ... * Faster: Tweaked to higher speeds, supported by the Win2003 Sp2 core it'll use. * FX: I realy am longing for FX without WindowFX, anyway, for what he could do for me, and I'll ask his permission to include his amazing Vystal... * More: Including and customizing (trying to get more out of it) WinFS... * Widgets, etc... * multiple desktop switching... * Maybe a 3d desktop, but I'll concentrate on that later. I am building the new explorer wich will replace explorer right now, and building the shell... I want it to be fast stable, and pretty looking and o' course easy to use. I don't want stuff that makes it look better but wich makes unstable, etc... I might include serveral non-standard options for faster pc's with GPU's... Will include aurora desktop, based on Flash and HTML wich will be embed in the desktop... I just want to make Windows easier to use and more effecient. I wanna follow the same vision of MS, but then with help of the net, an of course not dropping features because it's hard to include. What/Who I still need: * Flash geniuses (Caroussel effects on Hardware and some more things...) * TESTERS (Testing will start this summer, expect it the end of June or start of July) * Themers, resource suppliers (people who can hook me up with some neat graphics to use in the shell/explorer... This is a big project to pull of, so It will take some time, I won't be posting up any time it would be ready, I realy have no idear. Whoever wants to test, PM me I'll build up a list. Thanks to: WindowsX for the 2k3 to XP conversion pack, helped me a lot, the Windows Rome project on Neowin for some inspiration regarding the shell + Microsoft for Windows 2003 being stable, but many hate for f*cking up Vista! Not vista itself, wich is quite stable, but the work they did on the long time... What I already pulled of: (This is what I built, about 90% of all functions seen are operative, but the Control Panel is seriously a WIP) Desktop: Start Center (Fully Working): I'll continue working on it. Expect more shots and info soon. Comments are very appreceated, if you have tips or so, PM me in either way! Greetings, Caelestis!
  3. Wow great! Thanks! But an someone put up an easy guide or something? I would really appreciate it!
  4. I'm not very sure this is in the right forum but anyway: is there a way to install Windows XP with the Vista Setup? So I mean edit the INSTALL.WIM so it extracts (and applies the settings) to the Windows XP files? Greetings from a new and excited member, Caelestis.
