Thanks for your understanding and suggestion. I ran autoruns.exe and was overwhelmed with the information. I googled in search of what to do with the information in order to resolve the 2 issues mentioned in my first post. The only thing I found is what not to delete or uncheck (I did delete a task scheduler item that had no program thru Explorer). Now how do I get from having all the information to resolving the issues? Thanks.

Thanks for the response. Because of my ignorance, I do not understand "download autoruns". Would you please elaborate. FYI, It has never crashed, just closes mmc. Thanks.

Errors: 1. Computer Browser service terminated with the following error: Operation returned because the timeout period expired. 2. Fault bucket 127634141 - Faulting application mmc.exe version 5.1.2600.2180 faulting module ntdll.dll version 5.1.2600, fault address 0x00010f29. Ocassionally, when I'm in mmc, the PC notifies me that it has experienced an error and has to shut down. But it only closes mmc and doesn't shut down. I have run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /f. Any suggestions?

Hello. I am notsosmart1. My ex-wife was a computer guru. So she did all work on the PC. I was limited to using Word and Excel at work. After my divorce 1 year ago, I took a great deal of interest in learning XP. I have come a long way, but not long enough. Because of my curiosity, I experiment a lot in Explorer and have become familiar with the registry, without changing it. This curiosity gets me in trouble sometimes. But I figure that this is one way to learn. Keep breaking the machine and fixing it _. I use Registry First Aid Platinum, ccCleaner, and HiJackThis to maintain my laptop. But in RFAD, I'm too scared to Fix items that are not a sure thing. RFAD is an amazing program, I think. Thanks for your help in advance.
