  1. I am sorry. Never heard of winnt.sif. I am using sysprep and startnet.cmd for the booting images. Can you tell me a little more of the procedure with winnt.sif? Read your life away @ the unattended.xp guide: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/ Ok. I have read the document. But so i understand: i can use either winnt.sif and/ or sysprep.inf to make a unattended installation. I use sysprep wih success except where to put all the driverfiles so that they will be automatically install with new hardware. In the document link says that winnt.sif is when install from cd/dvd etc. but this isn't the case. What is the advantage of using winnt.sif and not sysprep.exe? Or am i wrong? Hi, You use sysprep.inf to automate Windows Imaging process. You use winnt.sif to automate Windows Installation process. For your help... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314479 and read deploy.chm on your windows CD in \Tools\deploy.cab
  2. Hi Jaclaz, Happy to see you here, I have read many thread where you post something around this problem. I ve not watch at migrate.inf and hope this solution will help me. My main goal is to install XP and 2K3 on the same disk with XP on C: and 2k3 on D: and have "Program Files" and "Profiles" on another disk E: BUT.... The disk for XP and 2K3 is manage by the onboard controller (NVidia) The disk for the "PFiles" and "Profiles" is managed by a PCIe contoller The actual configuration give this result in diskpart: (I have not convert all my partition in extended one) Controller | Volume | Disk | Label | Partition Number | Partition Type Lsi | D: | Disk 0 | PFiles | Partition 1 | Primary Partition NVIDIA | C: | Disk 1 | XP | Partition 1 | Primary Partition NVIDIA | E: | Disk 1 | 2K3 | Partition 2 | Primary Partition With other HD attach to NVidia controller, each with primary partition. I know, I will have to make modification on my partition, but for now, I'm trying to determine if I can do my install the way I want or not, so I'm using VM to test... Thanks for your assistance Jaclaz
  3. Hello, I would like to make something simple...(in my brain;)) I have HD configure like that: PRIMARY MASTER:(PM) Partition 0 Extended Partition 1 Logical PRIMARY SLAVE:(PS) Partition 1 Primary Partition 2 Primary If I accord to this KB (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;51978). I should, and would like, obtain: PM Partition 1 Logical = E: PS Partition 1 Primary= C: PS Partition 2 Primary= D: Unfortunately, when I restart WinPE, I can see that my volume remains assign like that: PM Partition 1 Logical = D: PS Partition 1 Primary= C: PS Partition 2 Primary= E: So I decided to change the boot order in the BIOS and put PS as the first boot order and the PM as the second boot order. When I restart WinPE, the "bad" assignation remains PM Partition 1 Logical = D: PS Partition 1 Primary= C: PS Partition 2 Primary= E: For my test, I use a VMware Virtual Machine with 2 IDE Hard Drive. I would like obtain: PM Partition 1 Logical = E: PS Partition 1 Primary= C: PS Partition 2 Primary= D: Could you help me ? I have no more idea... Thanks to take time to read me
  4. Hello Atheros, Thanks for your help. I have thought about that too and it must be the next step. I just did it and unfortunately I have not seen any possibility to put my Disk 0 as Disk 1 or Disk 1 as Disk 0 for the moment :/ I will continue to looking for this way. -= I have seen many information on the web about a a migrate.inf file located in the boot folders just before the txtsetup during the installation of NT4...but this files doesn't exist anymore....but maybe anybody know an alternative ???? -=I have read about a registry hack, that could be work....but I prefer an elegant way to do it, cause until know I did everything without touching the media source... Pleaze everybody help me to find my way And thx again Atheros for your time
  5. Hi everybody, I'm in the process of making a Dual Boot XPx32 / 2K3x64. I'm able to install XP and 2K3 separately. I'm able to install XP and 2K3 on one disk with 2 partition. For that I use 2 disk. Disk 0 (on a PERC controller) | 1 partition (E:) Disk 1 (on a NVidia Controller) | 2 partition (C: and D:) Because of the bandwith on the PERC controller, I have decided to put "Documents and Settings", "Programs Files" and "Common Program Files" on E: Before launch winnt32 installation for XP I reassign the drive letter with diskpart as I want, so all is ok. Then the txtsetup start and the Disk 0 become the "D" Drive and partition 2 of the disk 1 become the "E" Drive. So my profile and programs files redirection are send to the bad disk... Do you know a way to solve that problem ? Thx to take time to read me BBM

  7. Hum..yes it's the actual way...but was it a mistake to think that it was possible to install SP2 from svcpack?
  8. Hello everybody, I'm trying to install SP2 and some hotfixe with the svcpack method to keep the possibility to uninstall them after (don't ask to me why....) So @ T-13 when SP2 is launching, all seems ok until this message: Error in C:\windows\system32\setup\tabletoc.dll Missing entry:CreateTutShortcut I'm using XP RTM in English langage. My 2 questions. Do you know how to resolve this? Do you know another way to post install the hotfix? (and keeping the uninstall capabilities) Thx a lot for your help EDIT: I forget to say, when I click OK on the error box, next hotfixe are installed, and the system is a XP SP2, and don't seems to be unstable....
