thanks for the comment! it's a compaq presario 1525EA notebook pc. more than 3yrs old. have been searching on compaq site as well but haven't found there solution for my problem either. i was using an original windows xp sp2 installation cd.

hey everyone, i wonder if there's anyone who could help me. i've been looking for solutions and looked at other forums but unfortunately, anywhere i found the same error message that i keep receivig, there was no one solving the problem i was reinstalling windows xp on my pc. when the pc rebooted itself it gave me the following error message fake setup call himself instead of original "setup.exe". - setup abort!. i can't do anything with it since then, as all what happens is this message appears, then it reboots itself soon i hit ok, or close that panel. please, anyone, with any good ideas...! many thanks in advance!!! viktoria
