A friend of mine has bought a computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, and i need to put an os on it, 2000 is awesome but i dont know if it works, i know xp sp1 doesnt work with it, so does 2k pro sp4 work...?
-
Ok thankyou tommy, ill go look for reg.exe, and make an old fashioned 62,000 hotfix disc lol, thanks for the information, hopefully i fix this up.

Ive been working with windows components removal, editing, rearranging, ect since 2003, before i even knew about hfslip or nlite, Nlite and HFslip have made it a WHOLE LOT easier, now what i do know as of now is that according to vorcks instructions nothing is wrong with the configuration of the disc, hotfixes and dx9, wmp9. HFSlip triggers a unclean source whenever you do something "outside the lines" unofficial sp5 is considered outside the lines by hfslip, dx9 can be integrated without ie6 and wmp9 so why are they relevant im racking my brain looking through this mess of hotfixes, vorcks site ect. nothing is incorrect, i integrated sp5 before i ran hfslip and sp5 added IE6, so theres no reason to get the cabs. and i cant quit using sp5 due to the 137gb setup fix it includes, (300gb disk drive) so then that brings us back to the original question will nlite include a dx9 integrator... 2000 IS NOT dead yet whether or not Mr Gates has chosen to discontinue it.
-
First off what does IE and wmp have to do with dx9? and second it isnt hacked, its the SP5.1 i integrated that its wining about, thats also why theres no ie6 cabs, SP5.1 = Hotfixes, IE6, ect.... So but again DX9 HAS NOTHING to do with ie6, wmp9 installer is where fred vorck's site says to put it. i followed that set of instructions to a T....

hfslip does a job, but it doesnt completly load it in, such an example, I integrated DirectX9 Dec 06 with hfslip on 2K sp4 following mr vorcks instructions and low and behold the first game i installed FORCEFULLY REINSTALLED directx 9.0c dec 06 without asking (this particular game only does this when i DO NOT do a proper manual installation) im not trying to complain or cause a ruse. but this isnt very helpful if the first of 490 some odd games i own reinstalls dx9, thats what i ment earlier by "shaky" it does integrate it, it does work, but becuse it didnt smooth and shine "Cosmetics" every program or game that searches for dx9 reinstalls it becuse it dont see it...

I was wondering how hard it would be to add an option to nlite to edit the "Context menus" one annoying one in particular is "Active Desktop" on 2K (I removed IE and the core thus no Active desktop) that little bugger is still there, its quite annoying, I dont know if there is a context editor program, but it would sure be nice for nlite to have it. I know ive asked before, and i figured it out with hfslip but will there be a option to slipstream dx9 for nlite>

im pretty sure thats for XP Style menu (Small icons in XP start only) not for classic menu sorry bud

Windows 2003 or Windows XP, which is better?
datarelm replied to Marthax's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
my personal experiences with 2003 as a workstation wernt the most pleasant...its ok with alot of work to convert it over. XP is better for a desktop than 2003, 2003 disables alot of services by default. Thank nuhi for nlite -
Hello there, Im matt from Indiana and just saying hello to the MSFN forums.
-
Why not add an option to slipstream directx 9.0c into 2000 or xpSP1a?
-
SP 5.1 needs sp4, if you dont slipstream sp4 first, it twould be bad...... and as for IE 6, it will be good for another 5+ years website wise, when it finally falls into incompatability firefox 2.0 would be the route

Now I started thinking, I really like Windows 2000 Professional, but it isnt quite ready for a "Long Haul" so to me anyways this is what i think needs to be done to equip it for use in the next 5 rough years lol. >SP4 (A MUST) >Unofficial SP5 (Good luck without it) (It includes, IE6, OE6, and about 400 hotfixes) >Direct X 9.0c (bless you for hfslip tommyp)lol >the 27 listed hotfixes for the year 2006 >A VERY GOOD FIREWALL AND ANTIVIRUS I seem to have a solid plan here, any suggestions...
-
Ok thankyou guys, you've been very patient sorry about the long reply, i fell asleep lol, (Im usally not so clumbsy with slipstreaming, I play with xp more than 2000, and it seems 2000 just has these fine qualitys that erk me lol.)
-
Basically, i do not think nlite and hfslip mix as fred vorck's site states, yes hfslip slipstreams dx9 but its shaky with hotfix integration (I.E: Windows Update stating that 8 out of the 27 hotfixes i slipstreamed needed to be downloaded...) and well Nlite is excellent all the way around except with DX9 and 2K, i wished that was easier said then done, so i still need help. THX

that tweak only works AFTER install, no good, it already screws up my large disks by then... 300gb to install on and a 250 storage...
-
that wont work, WINDOWS 2000, not xp, and thats for xpsp2 and hfslip has some issues, so i need to use nlite, any ideas
-
Hello there, is there a directx 9.0c Dec 2006 addon for 2000 pro. thx
-
Hello there, I used HFSLIP to slipstream no less than 27 hotfixes on Windows 2000 Professional with Unofficial SP5 (SP4ish) and i noticed on windows update that 8 updates are still listed that i ALREADY slipstreamed, so whats going on? they are security updates.
