  1. Hey all Is there a magic trick to getting 3rd party themes to work in Vista 64? I have run the VistaGlazz patcher and it does its job. I can see the transparent title bar and whatnot. What I cannot do is get any 3rd party theme to display with transparency. Any guidance is much appreciated. Thanks Craig
  2. Ahhh! Well, I sure wish we could set stuff up like that. It'd be a great feature.
  3. Hey all. If anyone has the quick start guide from a retail box of Vista, you'll see a picture of a certain start menu setup (Page 21 Home Premium). The start menu has titled dividers and whatnot. How on earth can I make my start menu look the same way? The guide, nor the web have been able to assist me. Thanks Craig
  4. I don't get why I have to wait until January 30th to buy it. There should be a DL service.
  5. Just a clarification. You can get alpha channel support in IE with PNG. Pretty simple code .
  6. It'll be an endless debate for sure. My main reason for picking Windows over Linux boils down to one thing really. You have to "USE" *Nix OS's, unlike Windows. To me an operating system shouldn't be something that needs to continuously be configured, compiled, tweaked etc etc etc. Hardware and Software should just work. We do use Linux servers for IPTables, but most of our main servers have switched to Win2k3. The time spent admining the network has dropped about 25% since we did. I do think all operating systems are fundamentally flawed. There's way too much non-compliance of standards and lack thereof. Operating system developers (especially Windows) get A LOT of slack because of the ineptitude of third party application developers. I'm not sure if this is because the operating systems make it difficult for developers to write rock solid applications or not. Too many times though, people blame Microsoft or whoever because some poorly written application or driver causes the machine to have a meltdown. I think it's very important for Linux and the likes to exist. It will hopefully keep Microsoft paying attention. I also think Microsoft has done some terrific work in the last 18-24 months in addressing some of their support weaknesses and product quality issues. I hope they continue to work just as hard at it. But in the end, whatever tool gets the job done for you, quickly and comfortably... that's all that matters.
  7. *UPDATE* You can DL a working version of the VIA Raid Driver from http://www.planetamd64.com. It's in the download section called VIAMRAIDf6.zip. Use this when installing xp64 with a VIA Raid controller to avoid the first boot bsod/restart. Have fun.
  8. Hey all Anyone else getting a BSOD after installing XP64 on first boot? The stop code is 0x0000007b. I believe it to be an issue with the VIA SATA Raid drivers. If anyone gets xp64 to work with via sata raid drivers v0.99b. Please post here so I can eliminate that as a cause. Thanks all.
  9. Knowing the stop code of the "BSOD" would also be a big help.
  10. About a week ago, my box decided to start going wiggy.. freezes, bsod's, random reboots. It didnt matter what I was doing. One of the BSOD's was the Machine_Check_Exception Stop:0x0000009c... among a pile of others for the file system, something to do with USB, on and on and on. The point to my post? After swapping out hardware upon hardware and troubleshooting for a good 20 hours. I had RMA'd the Motherboard and bought new RAM. The freezes stopped.. but not the **** Machine_Check_Exception. How did it get solved? New CPU. I was running an Athlon64 3500+ (Socket 939). After the swap of the CPU, all is well. I hope this helps someone out there.
  11. If you don't know, you're using 32bit.
  12. Remote Desktop Can't Login Fix That worked for me. Disable the nVidia desktop manager.
  13. Windows 2003 Whenever I try to login to my remote desktop through the Web Login. It starts to login after I enter username/password and then it drops and kicks me back to the initial login screen. It happens from various locales. I have ports 80 & 3389 open. I'm at a loss as to what's causing it. Thanks Guys & Gals Ico
  14. DesktopX 2 works fine with win2k3
