  1. This is just an old laptop which I'm just trying to see if its still can be use even for some basic computer program such as word or internet surfing. Actually, I have already deleted all the programs (since everything is on japanese) and the partitions on the HDD using "FDISK" hoping it will fix the problem but the error is still there. Now I will try to follow your 1st advise which is to download an Ultimate Boot CD, but I'm not sure on how to do your 2nd advise (download nLite) since there's no more program running on this laptop. Is there some other way to do it? Thank you.
  2. As far as I know this CD that I have right now contain a SP2. But what if I'll try to make a slipstreamed XP SP2 CD? Do you think I will still get the same error? If you think there's nothing to loose if I'll try to make one then is it possible to teach me how to get or make this slipstreamed XP SP2 CD? But before giving me the instructions on how to do it, I would just like to tell you that I'm not a "technical" type of person so I would appreciate if you can make the instruction as simple as possible...Thank you so much.
  3. I'm trying to install a windows xp (english) to a laptop which has a japanase window xp . This laptop came from japan thus all the programs, functions, menus, etc... are written in japanase that's why I decided to reinstall a windows xp. Unfortunately, an error had occured after the text "Setup is starting Windows" message and before the partition select. This is the exact error message on the screen. A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow this steps: Check for viruses on your computer, remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to ensure it is porperly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK/F to check hard drive corruption. Then restart computer. Technical information: *** STOP: 0X00000007B (0XF9972524, OXC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000) Lucky, I still manage to get some info about this laptop and I hope this might also help. Model : NEC Lavie J Intel ® Celeron 650MHZ / 248MB RAM hardisk : Toshiba MK3018GAS cdrom : external (NEC OP-260-75301) Despite the fact that this is a low-end laptop, all I want to do achive here is at least I can use it even for basic internet surfing, e-mail and word documents. So, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.
