  1. I recently created a slipstreamed install of xp pro with sp2 and all the latest hotfixes using nlite. I tweaked a few windows settings when I made the disc also, but I don't remember exactly which ones besides turning off "parse autoexec.bat on logon". I formatted and installed xp using that disk, and now when I try to install certain programs the computer will just restart without any warning at all. One thing I am trying to use is the microsoft update website. After it downloads all the updates I want and starts installing, the computer restarts as if I pressed the reset button. Windows does not shut down, it just instantly restarts. The other program causing this is some software for mapping the extra buttons on my mouse. I noticed that the software installation gets to the last part and when it begins adding registry entries the computer restarts. Anyone know what is causing this and how I can fix it? I already know it's not my motherboard settings because it didn't do this before the reinstallation of windows and I even tried setting the bios back to default, which didn't help. Also, every time this happens my mouse stops working and I have to navigate to device manager with the keyboard, uninstall the mouse driver, then plug it into a different usb port before it will work again.
