  1. I purchased a server from Dell and had the x64 OS installed on the system only to come to find out that the version of BackupExec that shipped with the computer doesn't work with the 64 bit OS. I have contacted Dell about getting the 11d version for the server and was informed that the OEM version won't be released for a month or two and have yet to get a quote from Symantec after numerous request via email. I currently am using the built in version of the Microsoft backup software and would like to get some input of what other backup programs I should look into purchasing for the server since Symantec doesn't seem to care about contacting me and Dell won't have a release for a few weeks / month.
  2. Wow you were correct it was the R2. What is it about the R2 that does that? Thank you for your help.
  3. Thanks for the help; But I have a stupid question. I only have the 2003 R2 and 2003x64 R2 from Dell licensing; is their a way I can install without the R2 with the media I currently have?
  4. I currently have a 3 Windows 2000 Servers (SP4 on all current DC's) and I just purchased a new server which I installed 2003 x64 R2 on. I am in the process of running DCpromo and get the adprep error that you get when your current domain hasn't been prepped with the adprep tool. After fixing a role problem that was preventing adprep from running I ran both "adprep /forrestprep - adprep /domainprep" on the global catalog server and both reported success. After I let replication occur I tried to make the new server a DC and still get the same message "the version of the Active Directory schema of the source forest is not compatible with the version of active directory on this computer." Here are the logs from adprep that I ran a second time on the Global Catalog: Forest-wide information has already been updated. [status/Consequence] Adprep did not atempt to rerun the operation Domainwide information has already been updated. [status/Consequence] Adprep did not attempt to rerun the operation After checking my dcdiag I found that everything passed including my FsmoCheck. I don't know what else to check; is their a way to manually check each server and ensure that they are all prepped? PS, I did find an error in dcdiag when I used the /q tag
