Greetings Everyone. First post here so please excuse me if I commit any faux pas. I've searched for this problem high and low and either have crafted very poor search criteria or this is not a difficult problem. I've built a Windows XP Professional SP2 image on an HP5100 which uses an Intel P4 HT processor. Some of my departments, using the Oregon Smart buy contract, have purchased HP5150's which have an AMD Athlon 64. My problem is that I can't get my sysprepped image to come up on the AMD's or vise versa. Since we have many departments that use customized apps, I dread the thought of maintaining seperate images. What I've done: Set HAL to ACPI which has worked on all our platforms in the past. Set IDE Controllers to Standard Dual Channel which has worked on all our platforms in the past. Installed amdk8.sys drivers and set Processor drivers to Processor (processr.sys). I'm using Altiris' rdeploy to put the image on the network and pull it back down. So far the 5150's are the *only* platfrom we use that is not allowing the image to come up. It is also the first AMD64's we've had. The 5150's start the XP splash screen but never gets to mini-setup. It reboots constantly. If I pick Last Known Good it fails stating that The following file is missing or corrupt: Window\system32\config\system If I try safe mode it stops at mup.sys but I don't think that's related. I've disabled it in the repair console and I believe that's the last file you'd see before mini-setup anyway. Repairs don't work at all...same problem. I have until Friday to resolve this so I need to start making another image soon if I can't figure something out. So, I would be much appreciative if someone has an idea for what I can do to the image before sysprep that will allow it to come up on the AMD's. I've ruled out the HAL and IDE Controllers since when I bring up XP from scratch it gives me the option to choose that same HAL on the 5150's and it detects the SATA controller as a Standard IDE Controller. Anyone seen this before and/or have a method for hardware independent images that will work between these 2 processors? Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and any help that may be forthcoming. Cheers! Kelly
