  1. I have been trying to get MCE2005 to work on the Via EPIA-EN 15000 board. The main problem I'm experiencing is that video playback within the mce application just won't work properly. I've tried both wmv and mpeg2 files but both yield the same result. As soon as the playback starts the screen goes pitch black but the sound seems to work just fine. If I'm in full-screen mode this is as far as I get but if I do not run it in full-screen mode the video actually does playback, sort of. As long as I keep resizing the window, frames are actually beeing rendered and displayed. This is an improvement, actually. Before installing the vga drivers released in june (16-94-44-64) the resizing trick didn't do anything at all. The very same video, wmv or mpeg2, files run just fine in Media Player 10 even if I cannot get the hw acceleration to work for mpeg2. Using PowerDVD 7 the hw acceleration works fine for mpeg2 though so the drivers and the mpeg2 decoder can't be that bad. Running the Media Center Diagnostic Tool 2.5 everything is fine except for "All video connections: DXVA Deinterlacing" which fails. So, obviously the graphics driver from Via does not support DXVA Deinterlacing and my only guess so far is that this is what causes the really annoying behaviour during video playback. Now, what I do not understand, probably due to my general lack of computer graphics knowledge, is why the lack of support for DXVA Deinterlacing causes MCE2005 to lay flat on its back but MP10 and PowerDVD handles it just fine. All theories, or better yet, explanations, for this behaviour would be greatly appreciated. /Måns Tånneryd
