  1. LLXX: Thanks for your quick response, after posing my question to RainyShadow, my brain finally started working and I Googled the question. I got a number of sites which said much the same as what you have advised, and gave key combinations for various BIOS's or particular manufacturers machines. Again thanks for taking the time to respond to my query.
  2. Rainyshdow: Thanks for your response, I'm sure this will get me well on the way to resolving this. Its been a while since I've done anything like this, but I believe pressing F8 while the system boots will take me into the BIOS to change the Boot sequence, is that correct
  3. My Brother had some difficulty with his system, and reformated his HD. Hs's now asked for my help in getting his Laptop operating again. He has an original 98SE Disk. On the Disk it says For distribution with a new PC only, Microsoft Windows 98 for PCs without Windows. My question is, will his system boot from this CD, or will we need a Boot Disk? If we need a Boot Disk, where can we access same ie, can the files be downloaded. Also, as Microsoft has stopped supporting this OS, where can I get an Update Disk which would contain all the Security& Program updates which were issued for this OS. He is planing to give this Laptop to his daughter who is away from home, pursuing her education. Any help would be most appreciated, as I stopped using Win98 sometime ago, and have forgotten most of what I had learned over the years. Hopefuly with the help of the contributors to this site, I can keep this windows 98 system operating until my neice finishes her education. Thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer.
  4. Hi: Rasputin here, I was searching the Net for help with Win 98SE, and came across this site. Its great to see somebody giving some consideration to all those people who continue to use Win 98. Its a great OS, and I don't think its Microsoft's place to try to force us to move to a new OS, by discontinuing support. Thankfully as happens so many time on the Net there are people, who don't take kindly to the heavy handedness of Microsoft, and have the knowledge and willingness to help themselves and others. I'm sure once I have a look around, I'll find everything I need to continue using this OS, until I decide its time to change or move on. Thanks to the folks who conceived of this site, and then made it happen.
