  1. Check your PM.

You shouldn't be removing so much stuff if you're actually going to use the system. Stick to removing the stuff that takes up a lot of diskspace and just manually disable the rest once you have it installed (especially services).

Thanks. Im actually on a Ratail version install now. And i added the tcpmon files in syswow64 to the keepfiles list in vlite. Before i was only keeping the files in the system32. And i think it needs the 64 bit files.

Thanks for all the trouble you went to to upload them for me though.

And i have never had a problem before this. I normally run my builds with that much stuff removed.

  2. Hi. I am trying to install my Brother printer, HL-4070CDW on a vLited Vista x64 SP1.

The problem is, when i go to install it it says it can't find tcpmon.dll, tcpmon.ini, and tcpmon.hlp.

I copied over the files, excluding tcpmon.hlp from my parents windows xp install.

That seemed to go fine, but once it got past that it gave me an error stating:

Operation could not be completed (error 0x000000704). The specified port is unknown.

So i was wondering if you could help me with those 2 problems.

    1. help me identify what vlite is removing that is taking the tcpmon files with it.

    2. What am i removing that is getting rid of the port that i need.

i even tried doing the [KeepFiles] that works in nlite, but that didn't work.

The install works fine on a non-vLited install.

Thanks for any help. Its much appreciated.

  3. so i vlited my x64 vista ultimate, i added all of the needed hotfixes, and removed various programs. When i went to install, it completed everything successfuly but it came up with a message saying "cannot complete installation, restart and try again". Is there a certain component i shouldnt have removed?

    thanks for any help.

  4. Do you have to have the patched theme dll to run the themes?

I just did that too, my theme doesnt even appear under the appearance tab. I had the patched uxtheme.dll copied over to system 32, via the $$\system32 option, but it gave me a warning saying that some windows files were being replaced, and it wanted to re install the ones from the cd. Is there a way to patch the uxtheme during setup instead of copying it over?

  5. i had tried that and it doesnt seem to work. The winipcfg says that i am connected to the server. BUt i am having truble logging into the server, i cant get th edrop down box at login to choosed the server i want to connect to.

  7. hello, i work as an i.t. guy at a company with around 200-250 computers. We run the mcafee virus scan program. for the last few days we i have been going around to everyones computer individually updating there computers with the newest patch (13). once i did that i had to re-install the framework package for them because they werent updating properly. I tried to do it remotely and it works but it would confuse the users to have a box pop up in the middle of their work, so i need to know if there is a silent switch i can use so there is no user interaction, i want the box gone completely.

I had seen a switches page around here earlier but i lost it.

the path to the file is \\server name\user\framepkg.exe

i tried to use /s and /silent but it gave me an error saying to select an executable on the system.

oh, and i am doing this through a new task in the virus scan console, remotely connected to another computer.

    please help me.

  8. The macs at my school crash a LOT more than my pc. and my pc crashes a lot. I reinstall Xp every few weeks. I mess things up. Mac also does not allow for as much tweaking or expanability though in my opinion. The only mac i would get would me a MINI and that would be so i could wun windows on it with boot camp. Just a smaller more portable comp. Jusat for fun.

  9. to supra98twinturbo

to change the "shut down" text you go to "system" under the "control panel". And under "Computer Name" You add what you want it to say. Apply that and the next time you get to the login Screen it should have the text changed.

This worked for me using Xp Home OEM, atleast this is what i think i did. i will check again when i get home to make sure. ;)
