  1. Strange... I posted a reply yesterday, but it doesn't show. In any case, I was mentioning that I think it's a hardware problem. My drive doesn't recognize the disc at all. When I tried booting another laptop with the disc, it did boot from the CD. I guess I should contact HP support again. Thanks for your input! EDIT: Oops... Just saw that there's a second page. Sorry for the double-posting EDIT 2: I contacted HP... was told that "there are known issues" with Memorex discs. Tried again with an LG CD-RW, and was (finally) able to boot. Thanks to everyone for their help.
  2. I tried to burn the ISO image directly into a CD-RW using Nero. However, my HP did not boot with the disc.. in fact, it didn't recognize it at all. What's strange, though, it that the computer that burned it DID boot from the CD. Not even Nero recognizes it. I suppose I'll contact HP support... For one thing, the drive reads VERY slowly (1.5 hrs for ~1GB!). Thanks for your help!
  3. Thanks for the fast reply! However, your note ("Note: I did have to re-create the ISO image (using nLite). No biggie. My CD with new image booted correctly. ") scares me a bit. How did you re-create what? Since I'm using Nero 6.6, the instructions are pretty straightforward, and I happened to have done it exactly as written. So I'm guessing I have to re-create something? Again, thanks for the fast reply.
  4. I'm a newbie too. I've tried using nLite to create an ISO that I burned to a CD-RW using Nero 6.6.0.13, and tried installing it in my HP laptop (model zd8210ca). When I try to boot, it just .. stops. I can still see the cursor blinking, and the light of the drive is still flashing, but it just stops. As soon as I take the CD out, Windows starts booting normally. With my normal, un-slipstreamed CD, there's a message similar to "Press any key to boot from the CD:" before I get the chance to see the flashing cursor (can't believe I actually waited a whole reboot just to write this bit of information!). That was using a copy of the original CD. I've also tried using the .ima file from tacktech w/ Nero and the IsoBuster-extracted .img file w/ Nero (in both cases setting the boot sectors to 4, no emulation, start on 0000 and 07c0 for both image files, and I checked the labels and file formats). Same thing happened. Curiously, when I didn't set the sector to 4, I got an error message (I think it was error code 5). Can anyone help me?
