Thanks for the suggestion XP 2600. I've done full system scans with Kaspersky Anti-Virus also Ewido anti-malware and Ad-aware but turned up nothing. Cartopper

My computer has xp pro installed and I'm getting several copies of all the folders and sub-folders in the Start Menu in the Programs section. Also multiple copies of files in other directories such as the Program Files. They appear in the column as: XXXXX(2)(2)(2) XXXXX(2)(3) XXXXX(3)(2). Is there a way to get back to one entry of each? I was going to use system restore but it wasn't working a few weeks ago when I first noticed all these multiple entries but for some reason a couple of days ago it's working again. Now all the earlier restore points before this problem are now gone. Thanks, Cartopper
