  1. New version released!! :thumbup

    2 minor bugs removed.

thanks again for your (continuos) hard work! ;)

Sorry I think I linked 3.1 version instead of 4.5, I fixed it. About your freezing, what can I say, I think it is something with your windows installation. It is not happening to me. Had you restarted after installing windows installer and before installing .NET?

All the tests have been made with a "clean" installation: virtual machine was formatted and the OS reinstalled.

Windows Installer 4.5 + update has been installed via RunOnce.

Before install the. NET I rebooted the OS.

I can do it without errors for the same files.

It is a problem with your windows installer.

Try this: open a command line and run:

    msiexec /unregister

    then

    msiexec /regserver

and then try repeating the building process.

If this don't work try reinstalling windows installer by running:

    msiexec /unregister

then reinstalling windows installer and restarting

and then try repeating the building process.

    Hi strel! :)

I've guessed again! the problem was the Windows Installer: now I create with 4.5 version and ALL (software&update) ok ;)

The only problem is the reboot of system: after installation of .NET , during the closure of the OS, freeze...

I've installed the .NET from desktop in a Virtual Machine OS: Windows XP SP3 full updated (DiretcX August 2009, Windows Installer 4.5 + KB958655-v2, Windows Update Agent 3.0 v7.4.7600.226...).

  3. If I do exactly what you do, with the same settings (except compression-ratio) and the same files in work folder, the update and SP3QFE folders are appearing in XPS folder.

    Do this:

Set the .ini file to process only 3.0. Open _SNMSYNTH.cmd and replace the line

    @ECHO OFF

    at the beginning, with

    @ECHO ON

Open a command line in work folder and run _SNMsynth.cmd > process.log 2>&1 (I edited this command, use this instead, sorry)

    Attach OUTPUT.TXT after process finish.

    Revert line replacement.

Use latest version to do this.

May XCOPY not be available for some reason?

Now I read your post and...you guessed!

I think I understand where's the problem: my system.

Unfortunately not recognize the command "XCOPY".

The command "XCOPY" is used precisely for the patch KB971276.

I'll just fix the problem other tests.

Thanks for the support Strel! ;)

  4. @thnx4thepen What is the output of the command "NET CONFIG WORK" in your language?

    net_config_work.jpg

    and specifically the softwareversion part.

    this is the files used:

    used_files.jpg

and the last installer was created with the 20091103 release.

    thnx4thepen

Can you confirm this file is where it is supposed to be? I mean try uncompressing the installer and look for this file in its folder.

    there isn't "update" folder! :o

there is only folder "itLNG" that contains...

    itLNG_folder.jpg

the "update" folder (content in "itLNG" folder) contains...

    update_folder.jpg

Has the building process output showed "Updating XPS driver with latest files from XP+2K3 KB971376..." message?
    showed...

  5. SNMsynth 20091029 presents important bugs, I'd recommend you to not use it except for testing purposes. Hopefully will fix all bugs for the next verion soon.

    ok! ;)

    thnx4thepen

What method did you used to install? Did you installed 3.0 from win setup? At what time?

I simply run the installer created in a Virtual Machine (VirtualBox 2.2.2 Windows XP SP3 full updated).

I used only the "dotnetfx35.exe", the language pack and the updates.

PS when the procedure is finished I did clean the .\TMP folder

  6. I'm getting the following error:

    i1ih48.png

    Translation:

Windows cannot find the file DNF30\XPS\update\update.exe. Check name etc.etc.

    Glowy

I built 3.0 SP2+3.5 SP1 merged installers with exactly the same .ini file settings and with the same files in the work folder as you. Then I proceed to install and the error didn't appear. Can you check again even repeating the process or so?

    I had the same error...

  7. Hi :)

First all, thanks to benners for the fantastic tool :thumbup

    I have a question:

I try to use the switchless SFX to create a cab file to use like addon with nLite, but not install WLM2009.

    Why?

The program will only create an exe not a cab file. You can use the settings to create a total silent install then I think you can use nlite to add it to the RunOnceEx section?, not really sure, or you could create an addon. There is a link here to a program that may be effective in creating the addon for you.

    thanks for answer.

I know what work your tool (very fine), but I think...expressed badly cause of my english :blushing:

I create a switchless SFX with your tool and created a cab file (to use with nLite) but WLM2009 is not installed.

I tried to use switchless SFX with RunOnce (ever with nLite) it's worked.

I read the post of elajua and him wrote...

Note: SVCPACK compatibility is not tested.

but in the thread i've found a user (mickmack) who create a switchless SFX SVCPACK compatible:

    http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...st&p=827839

So, I think your tool create a switchless SFX not SVCPACK compatible.

Thanks for the link and info. I can update the program to add the line supplied by mickmack (cheers), if you would like to test it when it is finished?.

    YES! of course :thumbup

  9. thnx4thepen U should add msistub.exe to your archive when u use .msi installer in this case MsnMsgs.msi, so now the switch for sfx archive should look like this msistub.exe MsnMsgs.msi /qn...

    Hi Gorki :)

I create other file cab with this procedure (Perfect Disk, QuickTime...Messenger 7.5!) and I never use msistub.exe file.

I don't understand why the switch work properly from prompt DOS and no with the cab...

  10. Hi!

I have tried to make a cab of "Live messenger", integrated with nLite but when start Windows Messenger there isn't!

    This is the step:

    1) dowloaded the file from: www.messenger.it

    2) extract the files from the executable "Install_Messenger.exe" (found five files: "MsnMsgs.msi", "WLToolbarSetup.exe", "wllogin.msi", "bootstrap.exe" and "bootstrap.dll")

    3) create (with winrar) an auto-extract file with five files and using the switch "MsnMsgs.msi /qn"

    4) create a file cab with CabPack

I tried, from DOS promt, to install Live Messenger with this switch and work!

    Why Live Messenger doen't install?

PS I use Windows XP Pro (Corporate)

  11. Fellow nLiter, need your experience input please.

    - Got Windows XP Pro OEM w/SP2 (CD volme label as VX2POEM_EN)

    - Using nLite v1.2.1

    - downloaded IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe off Microsoft site

    - Ran nLite v1.2.1 only doing HotFix and Create ISO

    - only include IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe in Hotfix and nothing else

    - integrated OK

    - create ISO OK

    - Load up in VMware, text mode setup completed OK

    a. upon GUI setup bootup, gave error : lsass.exe - System Error

    b. setup reboot itself automatically

    c. upon GUI setup bootup again, gave error: lsass.exe - Not Enough Quota

    d. setup reboot itself automatically

    - loop back to ( c ) and continue doing ( c ) and ( d ) and loop non-stop

Tried above steps with Windows XP Pro Corp (CD volume label as WXPVLKSP2) works OK.

I know someone already mentioned IE7 can probably only integrated into WinXP which doesn't really need activation.

Are there anyone able to sucessfully integrate IE7 (which download straight from Microsoft, not modded one) into OEM Windows using nLite ?

    TIA!
