Thanks Do you know how i can stop the re-install from trying to continue from the previous point when i reboot. I want it to start and do a new install.

Had to replace the motherboard in a pc and therefore had to re-install Windows. Used the repair option which was working fine, until it got to the 35 minute mark in the install devices phase. The monitor flicked on and off a few times when it was loading the monitor device and then just stalled 30 seconds after that. Went through all the log files and saw that the monitor drivers were installed ok. In the setuperr.log file it had the following SETUP ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR WHILE TRYING TO SET SYSTEM SECURITY Has anyone got any ideas how to detemine what is causing this and fix it. We have 2 hard drives on the system and the second one has most of the files and programs i want to keep. If i have to do a full install of windows can i still use the programs loaded on the second drive or would i have to re-install everything?
