I'm about to create an SP2 installation disk using the MSFN Beginner instructions and have a couple of questions: 1. Previously, after installing XP Professional from the Dell-provided system installation disk, the Windows Update site always installed a number of critical updates (requiring restart) before it offered & installed SP2. If I slipstream/integrate SP2 with the system files from my setup disk using the MSFN method, will there be a problem because the pre-SP2 critical updates are not included? 2. I recently followed instructions from Paul Thurrott's site (http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp) to slipstream SP2 into the system installation files from my Dell-provided XP installation disk and to burn the integrated files onto a CD. As part of that procedure I had to extract the hidden .img file from the XP installation disk using IsoBuster, change the .img file name to BOOTIMG.BIN, and use it in creating the CD with Roxio Easy CD. Why do I not have to extract and use the installation disk .img file when using the MSFN method?
