  1. The short version - Right now, I am only seeking comments, guidance, etc., on how-to best create a concise Windows XP install that will only be used for Skype and the Uplink Skype to SIP Adapter. More specifically, I suppose I am looking for help in deciding what to remove/not remove. I do not expect anyone to provide a custom, step-by-step guide just for my needs - surely, I can do my homework within this forum to learn how to do that like anyone else. I do not plan to make use of Skype's video featureset (if that matters). I am particularly interested in stripping-down the Windows XP installation (as much as possible) reducing any unneeded services and bloat. Feel free to mention recommended system minimums as well - i.e. CPU, RAM, storage, etc. If there are certain nLite resources (or links) I should begin with, those would be appreciated, too. Thanks in advance ________________________________ The long version - Ultimately, the plan is to create a dedicated 'Skype-box' to use with trixbox (already running on its own PC) IPCOP (already running on its own PC...will add QOS tweaks), Uplink Skype to SIP Adapter (to be installed on the proposed dedicated 'Skype-box') I would like to use another older PC (running Windows XP) for Skype use only. Perhaps, eventually I will replace the older dedicated PCs with lower-powered, 'solid state/CF' boxes using VIA CPUs, MINI-ITX motherboards and pico PSUs. IPCOP may eventually be swapped-out when Vyatta begins to offer their own hardware router running XORP. ___________________________ Additional helpful links - Skype-to-SIP Skype on Grandstream 486 Skype to SIP Software From Australia Skype-to-Asterisk(SIP): Progress IPCOP Pimpin Ain't Easy Part 2 - 'Roll your own' firewall with IPcop Tom's Hardware: IPCop Linux Firewall IPCOPS Discussion Forum
