  1. Well, I don't have any examples to test with, but assuming they are Zip files then TrID should detect them as such and it should "just work". Can anyone confirm this?

That's weird. They're shouldn't be more than just one of Simplified and one of Traditional. I'll check it out when I get home. I'm not sure what happened.

Thanks. I know you've been working on this for a while. Is this Simplified or Traditional? I definitely want to put it on my website as an alternative version and give you credit for it.

    1. I have tested a few Office 2007 files and it worked well

    2. I know the root cause now. I didn't uninstall the v1.5 and install v1.6β and the same language files have two filename, they were not replaced. So there are two Simplified and Traditional file.

    3. Thanks. It is Simplified Chinese.

  2. Each new version can give us surprises! :thumbup excellent!!

Advice: UniExtract can support Microsoft Office 2007 filetype such as .docx, .xlsx, .pptx... due to they are ZIP file actually.

I find that you added MANY Chinese language files in the tinstaller

It seems that Chinese (Simp).ini and Chinese (Simplified).ini are alike, and Chinese (Trad).ini and Chinese (Traditional).ini are the same too.

And you added my language files in it which makes me happy. But two Simplified Chinese files will make the end users confused

I have updated my language file to 1.6

    see attachment

P.S. Simplified Chinese's native name is not '北方话' but '简体中文'

  3. There are bugs in extracting files without any extension in use Universal Extractor v1.5

    1.

    405449317_c19ed10ef4_o.png

    2. It seems that UNRAR will add the "rar" extension for a file without any extension, so it can't find the correct file.

UNRAR 3.62 freeware Copyright © 1993-2006 Alexander Roshal

    Cannot open D:\test\testfile.rar

系统找不到指定的文件。 (English: system can't find the subject)

    No files to extract

    3. Sometimes TrID thinks the files without any extension are directories. A few days ago I met such the case, but I can't remember this clearly.

    4. Some exe and msi file can be extracted correctly. When I delet the extensions of them, the extraction will fail.

Besides, the tray icon didn't work well.

1.The hint text is not perfect.

    2. I suspended the script by click the icon. When I wanted to continue, why not click it again? But I failed, I must click it and select "script pause". That's not convenient. If I can change the state just by click the icon, it will be more easy to use.

  4. I have some suggestions.

    1. Will 1.5 have a single context menu item with submenu (like winzip and other handy tools)?
I think the context menu will be more clearly if it is as follow:
      383601813_9c1f276e99_o.png
    2. Use a special Preferences dialog and add the options which is in the Installation so that users can set the options easily.
    3. Add support to .wim file?
.wim file is Microsoft Windows Imaging Format. It used for Windows Vista Install, Windows PE 2.0 and so on. You can see Wikipedia for more infomation.
To extract files from .wim file, you must use command tool ImageX. The tool include Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK). WAIK is free for users, download address: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en
Please read the WAIK LICENSE and make sure if it can be used in Universal Extractor:
      WAIK_LICENSE.RTF
    4. As we know, Universal Extractor judges file type by the extension. It is not the best way. For example, there is a test.zip archive and Universal Extractor can extract the files correctly. If we rename the "test.zip" into "test.xip", Universal Extractor will not recognize it, But it still is a zip archive.
Universal Extractor can judge file type by "Identifying Characters". For example, the Identifying Characters of zip archive is "50 4B 03 04" (Hex) or "PK" (ASCII). More Identifying Characters can be searched in filext.com. If Universal Extractor judge file type by Identifying Characters, it will recognize more files.
If it is difficult to judge file by this way, you can try the command tool called TrID.

TrID is a utility designed to identify file types from their binary

signatures. While there are similar utilities with hard coded rules,

TriID has no such rules. Instead, it is extensible and can be trained

to recognize new formats in a fast and automatic way.

TrID uses a database of definitions which describe recurring patterns

      for supported file types.

You can help creating new definitions!

Just run the TrIDScan module against a number of files of a given type.

The program will do the rest.

  5. That was the only Chinese file that was e-mailed to me. Can you send me yours? I have no problem including it if it's more accurate.

Sorry, my computer has been broken so I couldn't read your message until today.

But I did sent my Chinese File to you. Maybe there is something wrong with the network .

Now, I have sent the new 1.4.2 Chinese language file to you. Though there have been a Chinese File, you can release it if you would like.

  6. Clippit, this is very cool. I have no problem with this port, and will link to it during my next update. I have a couple questions/requests, though.

First, for everyone else's sake I'd like to list the URL for the port. Clippit sent this to me via PM, which is why no one else saw it.

    http://zlthooray.googlepages.com/universal...lp:introduction

Specifically for Clippit: are the first three links on the download page for the original/unmodified version? If so, would you mind redirecting them to point to the my copy of the binaries rather than hosting your own? This way the links will automatically point to any updates I release, and I'm also able to keep track of download statistics.

For everyone else: it looks like Clippit made this port by modifying the source code and recompiling. That's a very effective way to do it, but obviously rather time-consuming. If there's interest in creating ports to other languages, I can try to build a translation framework into the next version. I only speak English myself, so any translations would have to come from volunteers, but if there's sufficient interest in this I'll be more than happy to add it to the next release. Please let me know.

Im sorry~~The links have been point to your copy of the binaries

BTW, Google pages is not so good. It said "The bandwidth limit for this site has been exceeded. "while I was downloading the files!! :realmad:
