Installing new server

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have ordered a new Server (win2003 SBE based).

Our current server is at its limits.

I am trying to work out the best method of “installing” it into our network.

Our company is relatively small (35 Users).

Our current server (server2003SBE) based, has cal Lic installed etc.

Now, do I need a whole new set for this new server?

I was planning, ideally, to leave the old machine on as ftp server/backup domain.

Making the new server a new domain eg current domain XJR, so new domain would be XJR2.

But we cant afford a whole new set of cals, so If I do have to buy a new set I cant do it this way.

All the users Data is on Old server, copying this across is no problem.

Basically im looking for your thoughts/ideas on the best way to go about this.

Also, does anyone here know about the exchange features that are built into Server2003SBE, as I haven’t got that setup currently, but I am hoping to when we get the new box.

Cheers

Andy
