Springdale
Ok, I'm giving it all on this project to make the ultimate windows 9x computer, but in order to do that I need to find out the perfect motherboard that works with Windows 98se/Me. I've seen people taking stabs at using 7x geforce series pci-X cards with Windows 98se, but which motherboard did you use? I'll do anything to find the best motherboard... It would be great to find an intel one that supports the latest intel chipset and DDR2 that works with 98se/Me. Thanks very much and much is appreciated. modicr
Hello!IMHO you will have to choose a motherboard with VIA chipset.I would try:1. ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA for Intel LGA 775 CPU (Kentsfiels, Conroe, ...)http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=4CoreDual-VSTA(VIA PT880 Ultra chipset)BTW, "Dual" means that it supports:both DDR and DDR2 andboth AGP and PCI-express2. ASUS M2V for AMD AM2 CPU http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&model=1171(VIA K8T890)Together with single core Athlon 64 4000+ rev. F3 processorthat would be IMHO very fast PC for the price:http://eclipseoc.com/index.php?id=3,82,0,0,1,0(there is a nice photo of the CPU in the above review )http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductRevie...N82E16819103868There is also an interesting Intel 865PE based motherboard for LGA 775 CPUs:3. ASRock ConRoe865PEhttp://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Mode...oe865PE&s=nGood luck, Roman

I believe a PCI sound card should work instead.
modicr
Hello! There might be some problems with the embedded sound under Win 98. I believe a PCI sound card should work instead. You are right. BTW, there are also USB sound cards available ...OT: There are also VIA (VN896) chipset based laptops available that IMHOmay be compatible with Windows 98:Fujitsu Siemens V3515 series:http://geizhals.at/a262791.html(T2450 Core Duo, 1 GB RAM, XP Pro: 700 EUR)http://geizhals.at/a262795.html(Celeron M 520, 512 MB RAM, Linux: 500 EUR)Regards, Roman Edited June 20, 2007 by modicr
Springdale
Hello!2. But my only question is, where could I find a PCI-X sata card that supports Windows 98se and Me? I could use PCI, but that would leave me with a couple of more PCI (Since the PCI-X Video card will take up one PCI).Also, would you happen to know any Geforce PCI-X cards that will work with 98se or Me? glocK_94
Also, would you happen to know any Geforce PCI-X cards that will work with 98se or Me?It should work using unofficial drivers. Check those threads for more information : Zak's drivers and 82.96 drivers.
Springdale
Well, I did find a great SATA card on Newegg that is a PCI-X interface that fully supports windows 98se/Me! So, I'm getting closer! Just need to find one that supports 4 internal connections so I can do a Raid 0 with my raptor X hard drives. Maybe I can find the same chip controler on another card and use the 98se/Me drivers?
