Nis And Nsw 2004

Recommended Posts

Ok, first of all you can't install this apps just runing the MSI with its switches, instead you have tu run Nswsetup.exe and/or Symsetup.exe. Apparently you can use the same switches as an MSI file, but i can't prevent the installation from rebooting, here's the command i'm using:

ECHO Instalando Norton Internet Security 2004 ...
start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Applications\Nis2004\symSETUP.exe /QB REBOOT=Supress

But when the installation finishes it reboots no matter what (it doesn't even ask if you want to), so it terminates all my batches before they're finished. Any aideas on how to prevent symantec installer from rebooting? :)

I tried the suppress method didn't work

instead I changed the .ini file I think it was install.ini.

There you'll see default install options

I changed 1's to 0's...

[Product]

RequireRebootOnInstall=0

MaintModeReboot=0

Okay it might not be install.ini I just remembered that since symantec is using

Installshield installer there should be an .iss file (I checked there is one)

[sdFinishReboot-0]

Result=1

BootOption=0

there is something like this

I've not yet tried it on 'internet sec' just tried it on the systemworks

try looking in .iss and .ini files there are plenty of them in the setup i'm using..

no, still rebooting...

I only found one ISS file under NU\MSHLIB, i edited it but no luck, i've also checked all the INI files, none of them have something rebooting related.

I give up, i'll try to install this app at the very end of my unattended setup although it implicates a lot of work :)
