Kurt_Aust
anyone who can make a completely hotfix list for win2000 post-Sp4 .thank you so muchThere should be an effectively final update to this list in about a week, the only items likely to change after that are updates to .Net, WMP9, MSXML and VC runtimes. Rebel300
Hello,The guide is very good until Installation Paragraph, so I could made all the steps until that and the Windows is working perfectly. But now I am not sure what to do with the files in AddOns, RunOnce maps. If I run the files separately won't work all of them, the Run1_W2Ksp5.bat, Run2_W2Ksp5.bat, Run3_W2Ksp5.bat, Run4_W2Ksp5.bat, Run5_W2Ksp5.bat files are do nothing. These files are in the main folder of the CD image, right?I would appreciate very much, if someone could describe me from Installation--> Run1_W2Ksp5.bat paragraph. Kurt_Aust
Beginning with the sentence "Here is how it works:" the rest of the guide describes how the install is automated and various options, you don't have to do anything with the information if you don't want to.Think of it as similar to describing the workings of a car engine, you don't need to know how it works in order to drive, but if anything goes wrong or you want to customise your ride it's good to have that information available. Rebel300
I still did not get it exactly. What about the files in AddOns, RunOnce maps and the Directx? I believed the RunX_W2Ksp5.bat will install these files automatically in order, but it did not. Actually what are these RunX_W2Ksp5.bat files doing? What will happen if I won't take these files into the installation disc?Sorry for my incompetence .
Kurt_Aust
Did you not perform step 7 of the procedure?7. Copy all the files and folders that you have downloaded, except those at \Hotfix and \Misc to your nLite working directory, maintaining the directory structure (\AddOns contains optional files, see notes part 1 & 3).The screenshots 07A_Copy_These_Files.JPG and 07B_Final_Working_Directory.JPG clearly indicate what should be copied and what the final result should look like.Updated the archives and torrent for the latest version of Adobe flash player. AKuHAK
Just some comments and suggestions (sorry for bad english):Adobe Flash Player can be safely replaced with FullFlash (3194369 bytes )This is silent installer.small sizeno litter in the system as official versionno autoupdate utilitiescan be removed from "Add remove programs"Now we can remove from source install_flash_player_ax.exe, sw_lic_full_installer.exe and install_flash_player.exerem%Source%RunOnce\install_flash_player_ax.exe -installrem %Source%AddOns\install_flash_player.exe -installrem %Source%AddOns\sw_lic_full_installer.exe /S [*]Visual C++ can be safely replaced with repacked versions (VCR_05_x86.exe (1,505,513 bytes ) and VCR_08_x86.exe (2,794,735 bytes) - in the bottom of page)It have to be launched with key /S:VCR_05_x86.exe /SVCR_08_x86.exe /Svcredist_x86_2005sp1.exe and vcredist_x86_2008sp1.exe can be safely removed (by the way in your list they have the same size but it is wrong: - 2008 libraries has 4,485,976 bytes. So we can free 2,930,984 bytes. But in addition we have to install runtime libraries (which aren't listed in your list at all) It is necessary to install Runtime Pack Lite (5,737,139 bytes MD5 139935be5a321845547c924a87e38820)Silent installation: RuntimePack_Lite_x86_x64.exe -y -gm2 -fm0[*]DirectXSo if we want to install June Version of it we have to place in unpacked folder 3 cab files: BDANT.cab, BDAXP.cab, dxnt.cab[*]SPTD new version 1.78[*]Theres is one more thing about Java machine. Cab file is unsupported on winaddons so it is more useful to use Java SE v1.6.0.24. So im using Java SE JDK JRE v1.6.0.24 x86 (31 Mb) but can be used Java SE JRE v1.6.0.24 x86 (11,55 Mb). first package contain all necessary to many online games like Linage but...java quick starter disabledjava autoupdate disabledtray icon disabledintegration in all browser installed in systemSilent install:Java_SE_JDK_JRE_x86.exe /S[*]SilverlightNothing special just repacked version (6,178,271 bytes)Silent install: SLight.exe -gm2 -ai1 Edited February 19, 2011 by AKuHAK
Kurt_Aust
Quite an impressive first post thereAs a general rule this guide tries to stick with the original official installers for two main reasons, firstly people are more likely to have confidence that there is nothing "off" about the original and secondly it's one less thing that can cause errors.Only two non original installers are used, the SP5 pack itself, being as it is the basis of this guide and the repacked .Net installer due to it saving almost 100MB.A repacked Direct X installer would also be nice, but all those I've tried give this install errorruninf.exe - Entry Point Not FoundThe procedure entry point _aligned_malloc could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll.or simply fail without any error message (as you seem to have discovered). In the other cases the space savings are simply not enough (in my opinion) to justify replacing the original installer. But hey, if the changes you've listed work for you, by all means go for it.
