Changing the Background on Classic Billboards

Recommended Posts

I would like to change the background on my unattended install to our corporate logo.

This is a Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition install.

I followed the directions here:

http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/74/

In the part labled "Changing the Background" it states the following:

Save the file as setup_w.bmp if you're using Windows XP or setup_s.bmp if using Windows 2003 and replace the original in your i386 directory

However, there doesn't seem to be an "original" file of that name for me to replace. I renamed my graphic accordingly, and placed it in the I386 directory, but it doesn't seem to have worked.

My guess, is that I am missing something obvious. Anyone know what it is?

Pic a 800x600 BMP file and re-named to setup_w.bmp and make cabinet file.

Suppose this file is exsiting at root of C: Drive

C:\makecab setup_w.bmp

A file named setup_w.bm_ will be created at root of C: drive , replace with this one to Ur Installation source.

Happy m8!

Worked like a charm, thanks! :)

Hi,

I looked over this thread since I am having the same issue on my Windows 2003 Standard CD. I cannot get the classic setup background to display.

I have made a 256 color 800x600 bitmap. Then followed: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/74/ to remove the needed files.

I then placed SETUP_S.BMP in the i386 folder and made the CD. Not working... The setup background is just white.

I also tried making SETUP_S.BMP into a cab file as SETUP_S.BM_ and SETUP_W.BMP and SETUP_W.BM_ (SETUP_W files are not in txtsetup.sif and dosnet.ini so they obviously weren't used).

I am not sure what i could be doing wrong. Anything else I am missing?
