This is just an idea, not tested.

Would it work if we deleted UXTHEME.DL_ from the I386 folder, placed the patched UXTheme.dll in there, and from the command prompt typed:

CD C:\XPCD\I386\

makecab UXTheme.dll UXTHEME.DL_

and then deleted UXTheme.dll from the i386 directory?

This way, no entry needed for UXTheme in the batch file...!

Edit: I've uploaded my sp1 uxtheme.dl_ file. Just put this file into your i386 folder and you'll be enjoying unsigned themes. If my memory is correct xp doesn't find any problems with the file. The file only works for xp sp1.

Realized after I posted that this subject had been covered. UXTHEME.DL_ is a digitally signed file, but I suppose your version is the hacked one that gets past this problem.
