The Saint
Hello everyone.I`m new here....so hello again I`m trying to setup my unattended CD, though something is unclear to me. To install the Pre-sp2 hotfixes it says to create the svcpack.inf file and copy all the hotfixes to the directory called svcpack under i386.Though, in the GUIRUNONCE of the winnt.sif file, it links all the hotfixes to the \install\hotfixes.What do I have to do there? Thanks a lot!
Aaron
That part of GuiRunOnce is to install the hotfixes that svcpack cannot do. svcpack.inf is automatically detected by Windows Setup so it needn't be specified anywhere else.
The Saint
Thanks much AaronXP.All that this for me is really hard.Maybe I could pay 10$ to someone for a WINXP Sp1 with Pre-sp2 Hotfixes CD.Anyone up for this offer..? ehehe
Aaron
hmm its not that hard really, its as simple as I could make it to be. But I've probably been doing this for too long to be able to tell whether something's difficult to do or not
The Saint
eheh I know.believe me when i say that it's hard.anyway, I`m trying to setup everything here. IF I am successfull, fine, otherwise I`ll post again and maybe we can work out a deal for the CD You know, just with very few programs and all the hotfixes.yes......?Back to read the guide. Aaron
Yeah, good idea to start small. You'll be able to pinpoint problems easily and fix them before moving on to doing other things for an unattended CD.
Leon2003
I followed the instruction from http://www.MSFN.org/unattended/xp/installhotfixes.htmto install hotfixes in the GUI-mode part of Setup, but not successfully done... after I finished up the xp installation... I checked the Windows Update, all the hotfixes were not installed at all... Did it do something wrong on my codes?my svcpack.inf code:[Version]Signature="$Windows NT$"BuildNumber=2600MajorVersion=5MinorVersion=1[SetupData]CatalogSubDir="I386\svcpack"[SetupHotfixesToRun]KB817778.EXE /Q /U /Z /NKB819639.EXE /Q:A /R:NKB820128.EXE /Q /U /Z /NKB820291.EXE /Q /U /Z /NKB821557.EXE /Q /U /Z /NKB822603.EXE /Q /U /Z /NKB822603.EXE /Q /U /Z /NKB823559.EXE /Q /U /Z /NKB824105.EXE /Q /U /Z /NKB824146.EXE /Q /U /Z /NKB828026.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ322011.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ323225.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ328310.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ329048.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ329115.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ329170.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ329390.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ329834.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ330994.EXE /Q:A /R:NQ810565.EXE /Q/ U /Z /NQ810577.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ810833.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ811493.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ811630.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ814033.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ815021.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ817606.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ819696.EXE /Q /U /Z /NQ922025.EXE /Q:A /R:NQ828750.EXE /Q:A /R:NJS56NCHS.EXE /Q:A /R:NQCHAIN.EXEMy DOSNET.inf[OptionalSrcDirs]langsvcpackI placed all the hotfix files and svcpack.inf underC:\XPCD\i386\svcpack\
Aaron
hrm... out of curiosity, do you have a SVCPACK.IN_ in your i386 directory? Delete that. Are all the hotfixes in the chinese language, or english?
The Saint
I have the same problem that Leon2003 have.It did not install any of the Hotfixes! I did have a svcpack.in_ file in the i386 dir.Plus, Windows prompted me for the registration online and asked me for the Name of the primary user. Wasn't supposed to happen, was it?And, more, no computer name that I specified before, just a bunch of characters.Any help......?Thanks
Aaron
Yup, looks like SVCPACK.IN_ is being used instead of svcpack.inf, I've checked my original CD and found the IN_ there. When I tested it for some reason it wasn't there, odd. Anyhow, I've updated the page to mention this.As for bypassing the Create User screen, add UnattendSwitch="yes" under [unattended]. Computer names can differ from the one you specify in winnt.sif if there is already an identical computer name that exists on the network, causing Setup to randomly generate one instead.
