1.3 RC2

Hi,

I'm using nLite 1.3 RC2 to finetune a XP Home CD.

My problem now is that during Windows installation I can't select any keyboard layout expect 5 US related keyboards. I didn't remove any keyboard layouts and/or languages.

After using nLite I slipstreamed the latest RyanVM packages and Driverpacks.

Anyone an idea what I'm doing wrong ? I'd like to use more features of nLite but I need the keyboard problem solved first.

Thanks.

ps. my last session.ini

Well,

In the LANG dir on the original SP2 disk there're 217 files. In the nLite-ed LANG dir, only 190. How come several files are removed there ?

I didn't asked for this option - or did I do something wrong ?

R.

Weird problem, if you didn't remove it then somehow your INTL.INF file got corrupted.

That file difference is because of removed Indexing Service files or some other component not to worry it won't remove what you didn't select.

Try once more with the same preset and RVM but without the driver packs, they tend to clash with nLite sometimes, let me know what you get from that then we can proceed. Also be sure that the source you're using has clean installation files.

When you're at it exclude all addons too.

I had this happen to me but I didn't just nLite the install, it had BTS driverpacks

and windowblinds added to it. You know what solved it for me? I removed MORE

components and thats what made the keyboards work again (I couldn't choose

UK then on a more stripped build I could) problem is I don't know what I removed

to make it work. Removing things to make something work, is this a first?

The exact message was:

"Windows could not properly load the English (United Kingdom) keyboard layout"

Just to be clear, I'm using the tools from the packages itself, RyanVM Integrator (1.4.3) and the BTS DriverPacks Base Slipstreamer (7.01.6).

I used a program to check on the differences after every operation and from what that I can see the following,

- nLite "cleans" up the INTL.INF file, eg. comments are removed

- RyanVM puts back the original (but updated) file, eg. with comments, more languages

- BTS DriverPacks does not change that file

I'll do some more testing later on. I'll try RyanVM only first and see if the problems occurs there already.

Currently I start using nLite, then RyanVM and last the BTS packs. Is this order OK or should I work in other order ?

R.

Mama mia, it goes first RVM, then nLite then BTS.

No wonder your languages were failing...gotta add this note somewhere visible.

But it's just logical, how can you first remove few components then put RVM pack which is ment for clean full installation.

I'm trying this right now. Appologies for being stupid

Hi Nuhi, I'm a little worried about BTS overwriting settings created by nLite. You have any thoughts on this?

Thanks.

It's been a while since I've used the DPs, but they used to edit your existing WINNT.SIF, not overwrite it. The important settings should still be there. Only the necessary changes should have been made for the DPs to work.

I thought that was the case too, but as of the 7.01.2 BTS Base relese it just overwrites whatever Winnt.sif file you have there.

Darn!

I was hoping I was overlooking something simple.

Oh well. :P

EDIT: OK, I guess SOME of it is copied over the UNATTEND.TXT file in i386.

Some (like timezone and the KeyCode), but not all that was in the Winnt.sif file.

Hummm...

I'll try some more manual editing.

EDIT #2: Bashrat says that is not possible.

Back to the drawing board.

Strange !

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Preload]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Preload]
