RocketDude
This is a pretty basic question: To use vLite, do I have to have Vista installed, or can I run it against an ISO or DVD?Thanks,RocketDude
strotee76
vLite can run under XP (never tested it under any other OS). I use PowerISO to extract the ISO to a folder on the desktop and then point vLite to this directory. Once the program is done making changes to the Vista installation files, I have vLite create the ISO. .Just for ease of finding, I save the ISO to the desktop as well, then I delete the Vista directory from the desktop and, finally use VMWare to boot the newly created ISO in a new Virtual Machine. Jeronimo
ALternatively, you could use Daemon Tools or (Alcohol) to mount the ISO and have vLite handle the complete process for you.
vim
I had problems with vLite running on my XP so I ran it under Vista and it went very smooth. I then took the ISO I created and ran that under XP/VMware. May sound confusing, but at the time I didn't have VMware installed under Vista. Vista seems to have all the tools installed. I would have to search and find the needed programs to run vLite with XP.
