can vLite split up vista dvd?

new: Merge SWM parts into a WIM (convert Vista CDs into a DVD)
Can the opposite function be present in vLite?  :)

(that is, to split a dvd into multiple CDs)

I'm, curious why you would want that, since DVD's are so cheap. I would rather have one platter to deal with versus multiple CD's. I could see it, if for example you didn't have a DVD drive or you had a bunch of CD's left over.

  • 2 weeks later...

I would still like to be able to generate CDs of Vista.

hi nuhi, i was hoping the 0.9 version will add this feature?

(to break-down dvd/.WIM file into multiple CDs/.SWM)

would it be possible to add that feature into vLite?

Maybe it's not that easy like it sounds or he just had no time for this..

I think he didn't forget this thing and you just have to be patient. ;)

prathapml, the driver integration won the 1 second fight.

Gonna see about it for the next one because I caught myself splitting it manually for purpose of testing the 64bit version.

Why I don't use DVDs? Well I have 10 CDRWs laying around and only 2 DVDRWs which purpose is for backup. Yeah always forget to buy more because I don't burn anything else...but it's also a nice feature to have.

darksen, true, nothing is easy if you want to make it easy for the users.

full ack .. i would never credit me with messing with such things deep in the Vista-System. I would be afraid of seeing too much of Microsofts "wonderful" Programming Techniques  My nerves couldn't stand that for a longer time :P

it would be nice to see this implemented.. i dont have a DVD drive and i dont plan on having one soon ;)

anyways, vista runs great here, and i dont want to vlite everything out of it just for the sake of burning to a CD ;)

i can now get the iso to 1-1.4 gigs keeping everything valuable ;)
