FightingChance
Apologies if this is old hat, but the answers I need are quick to give I promise.I'm having trouble minting an nLite'd WinXP Pro disc. I'm getting odd behavior after I burn off each new copy. Things like Windows File Protection requiring the disc when trying to install Nvidia video drivers, and some things I select in Unattended and Tweaks simply do not integrate at all (for instance, I have the product key in the unattended settings but the last build I tested prompted for a key). Also, here is something I do not understand. The 'Last Session' function allows me to take off from my last changes, yes? So if I make customizations to the 'tweaks' section, and later load up that session, those checkboxes should be saved? But when I get to the screen that allows me to select which operations I want, they are all de-selected (red dot). When I select them and procede forward, some sections retain my changes, and some are blank even though I remember making changes in that session that I am presumably continuing. Also, the Unattended setup warns me that there are settings there that will be overwritten no matter how clean an installation source I make. Is this normal? My nLite build is not aggressive at all, maybe 10MB smaller than usual with a few packages thrown in. This is very frustrating because I have used nLite in the past without trouble to do the same thing. Thank you.Last Session.ini:[Main]Env = 1.3 RC - 2.0.50727.42.Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2Target = Windows XP Professional SP:2 - 5.1.2600.2180 - English (United States)[Tasks]Remove ComponentsUnattended SetupHotfixes and Update PacksTweaksCreate a Bootable ISOOptions[Components];# Drivers #Tape drivesToshiba DVD decoder card;# Hardware Support #Multi-port serial adapters;# Multimedia #Old CDPlayer and Sound RecorderTablet PC;# Compatibility #Compat01Compat02Compat03Compat04Compat06Compat09Compat11[KeepFiles]msconfig.exe[RemoveFiles]clock.aviyahoo.bmpswtchbrd.bmp[Options]ProfilesDir = "%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings"TargetPath = "WINDOWS"temp_dir = %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp[Patches]TcpIp = 100UsbPoll = 250[services2][Tweaks]Boot and Shutdown-Logon Page-ClassicExplorer-Add 'Command Prompt' to folder context menuExplorer-Advanced Search: preconfigure optionsExplorer-Change Explorer Folder View to: detailsExplorer-Classic Control PanelExplorer-Disable Accessibility keyboard shortcutsExplorer-Disable Prefix: Shortcut toExplorer-Display the contents of system foldersExplorer-Recycle Bin: allow to rename and deleteExplorer-Restore previous folder windows at logonExplorer-Show Drive Letters in front of Drive NamesExplorer-Show extensions of known file-typesExplorer-Show hidden files and foldersExplorer-Show protected operating system filesExplorer-Show Statusbar in all windowsExplorer-Show the full path in the Address BarMy Computer-Add Device Manager to Context MenuPerformance-Disable Tracking of Broken Shortcut LinksPerformance-Do not cache thumbnailsPerformance-Enable USB Idle Endpoint supportPrivacy-Disable Error ReportingPrivacy-Remove AlexaStart Menu-Add Administrative Tools menuStart Menu-Control Panel-Display as a menuStart Menu-Disable Highlight newly installed programsStart Menu-Disable popup on first bootStart Menu-Do not use Personalized MenusStart Menu-Remove Windows Catalog shortcutTaskbar-Disable Group similar Taskbar buttonsTaskbar-Disable Hide inactive iconsTaskbar-Disable Language-BarTaskbar-Disable Windows Tour popupWindows Media Player-Accept Privacy StatementWindows Media Player-Disable starting with Media GuideWindows Media Player-Do not show anchor in DesignmodeWindows Media Player-No visualizationWindows Media Player-Optimize fullscreen mode behaviorWindows Media Player-Remove all context menu entries[unattended]ComputerType = DefaultHibernationNoMaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk = 12RestorePointLife = 30DesktopTheme = Default||AutoUDay = 5AutoUHour = 15ProgFilesPath = "\Program Files"[NetAdapter1]connname = ""macaddress = ""ipaddress = "192.168.0.1"subnetmask = "255.255.255.0"defaultgateway = ""dnsserver1 = ""dnsserver2 = ""winsserver = ""netbiossetting = "0"ipxnetworknumber = "00000000"ipxnetworkframetype = "0xFF"[GuiRunOnce][Drivers][Hotfixes]D:\XPResources\Apps\nLite\RVMUpdatePack2.1.5a.7zD:\XPResources\Apps\nLite\Xable_StartupCPL-v1.0_addon.cabD:\XPResources\Apps\nLite\ProgramAddons Firefox 2.0.cabD:\XPResources\Apps\nLite\RVMAddons_1.8.0.7zD:\XPResources\Apps\nLite\RVMAddonsDX9_1.1.7zD:\XPResources\Apps\nLite\RVMAddonsWMP10_3.0.7zD:\XPResources\Apps\nLite\Kels_UserPass2_addon_v1.CABLast Session_u.ini:;; nLite private info; (don't post it on the net, it's not important for debugging)[Personal]TimeZone = (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)CDKey = "[key goes here]"ComputerName = Organization = Language = English (United States)Locale = English (United States)Keyboard = USDomainAdmin = DomainPass = JoinDomain = JoinWorkgroup = Owner = [users]Administrator|||True|Administrators||False|True|TrueGuest|||False|Guests||True|False|False
Speeddymon
The reason it says there are unattended options is because your original CD apparently has some preset unattended options. Is your CD an original retail CD or did your CD come with a computer purchased from somewhere like dell or hp?The answer to that question may help us to figure out the other problems. FightingChance
The original CD was a Dell XP cd that has had Corporate VLK guts overwritten onto it then slipstreamed to SP2 manually some time ago.
Speeddymon
The original CD was a Dell XP cd that has had Corporate VLK guts overwritten onto it then slipstreamed to SP2 manually some time ago. That is the problem. When you overwrite an OEM CD (that requires activation, even if done transparently to the user) with a Corporate CD, you are bound to have problems. I would try using nlite on either the original VLK CD or the original Dell CD. nlite can remove anything the Dell CD has on it that you dont want, and can slipstream SP2.
