I will have to test which files work from MP9URP9X + XP SP3, so I need some spare time... soon I hope.

About removing DRM:

I will add an INF file anybody can run from a simple batch file, to remove DRM files + reg entries [move them to a backup folder] and another INF to restore them, if any1 cares to do so.

I will post here the updates when I have them.

About WMPBAND.DLL:

The 1 u need should be in "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player" .

Delete the 1 in %windir%\SYSTEM .

Thanks.

Do NOT install 98MP10 IF already installed WMP9URP...

Hi MDGx...

You say "Do NOT install 98MP10 IF already installed WMP9URP"...

Could you quickly state the reason why it should not be done?

Inquiring minds want to know ;)...

Thanks in advance...

Edit:

Also...

I can't seem to register WMPENCEN.DLL...

and I get the following errors reported by Dependency Walker when examining it...

Error: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in an implicitly dependent module.

Warning: At least one delay-load dependency module was not found.

Is this normal?

1. erpdude8 [also a MSFN member] is the author of WMP9URP, he can better answer this question.

In brief, there are files installed by WMP9URP which conflict with 98MP10.

2. I have removed WMPENCEN.DLL registration from 98MP10.INF.

The error message you're getting is probably because WinXP/WMP10 have extra API functions Win98/WMP9 doesn't have.

WMPENCEN.DLL works ok otherwise, as far as I can tell.

Thanks for your feedback.

...and thank you for the information :).

The reason I asked the first question was because, after backing up my registry and all files that would be replaced, I installed 98MP10 over WMP9URP and noticed no problems (so far)...

If there are any problems, I'll report back...

Maybe erpdude8 will see this post and let us know what conflicts he encountered...

Nice work MDGx! :D

As always, a superb package! - so far Windows Media Player works correctly.

However, a word of warning:

The last three releases of 98MP10 replace SHFOLDER.DLL.

If you are using KernelEx 0.3.4, 0.3.5, or 0.3.6, you will lose the SHFOLDER.DLL patching.

After installing 98MP10, you must uninstall and reinstall KernelEx to re-patch SHFOLDER.DLL.

It also rolls back browselc.dll to version 6.0.2800.1106, but the most updated version of this file known to work in Win 9x/ME is v. 6.0.2800.1146, from KB331485...

Nonetheless, this is a minor problem.

Thanks a lot for the update, MDGx! You rock! :thumbup

On the other hand, I've been using the 6.0.2900.2180 builds of

BROWSEWM.DLL SHDOCLC.DLL and SHFOLDER.DLL for about a fortnight now,

with no apparent problems happening so far. However, if I ever find

any issues with any of them I'll sure post about them.

Are they still going strong?
