nLite 1.3 RC2 - Santa's patch 2

nuhi

Recommended Posts

I dont have any issue with iso ngine on any previous nLite versions, i just use windows CD and dont add hot fixes, just SPs.

So im sure the ISO ngine works perfect!

Ill test RC2 at 11:47 PM JAN 16, 07

Tested! at 01:27 AM JAN 17, 07

My only complain is:

it keeps the WORKGROUP default name instead i set AMD.

i hope you could fix that!

Close to 1.3 Final :thumbup

Thanks!!!

I was so worried that the ISO ngine was not working perfect for you! I couldn't even sleep! I am sure it is that magic slipstreaming of SP1 and then SP2 on top of it that keeps your CDs regular, like a good dose of fiber.

I keed, I keed.

It appears that 1.3RC2 has some broken tweaks. The only one I can positively say right now is that the Remove Windows Catalog shortcut isn't working.

There is no point in integrating SP1 if you're integrating SP2....you're wasting your time doing so...
tap52384 is correct. SP2 is a cumulative update and includes all fixes/updates from SP1 so all you're doing is wasting your time and maybe further cluttering up your source.

Hola paisano!

Suerte!

Thx, nuhi!!

I'm gonna use this tonight! :D

PS: Pistolero,

Hi Nuhi,

Thank you for a great program, this saves me a lot of time whenever I rebuild my PC.

I would like to make a small change request please.

It is possible to add back the tweak to change the 'common' directory (within programs)?

This used to be available and from what I can tell by looking at my logs, I think it was removed between 1.0RC6 and 1.0RC7.

Many Thanks.

Just a quick question...

Does nLite know which OS you're using (2000, XP, 2003)? What I mean is,

I loaded up Server 2003 and indeed, theres a tweak to remove the "Manage

your server" shortcut... which does not appear in XP... so I can only guess that

nLite changes accordingly depending on what OS you're using?

Nuhi deserves some sort of award for nLite! :thumbup

People have argued for years about how with Linux its all in modules

but you have to put up with XP as one big lump of an OS... Nuhi has

changed all that though, he has done what Microsoft were NEVER going

to do for us in a million years and yet Nuhi does this for FREE. Swear to

god if I could donate anything I would do... I always feel bad for not

donating, but I can't at the moment. :blushing:

one thing I've noticed in nlite for a while is "extra" components appear after removing some the first time. Most obvious with Keyboards & Languages. For example even though I checked the box to remove all for both, if I reopen nlite and do component removal again I can continue to remove these new components:
;# Keyboards #

Bosnian Cyrillic keyboard

Inuktitut Latin keyboard

Luxembourgish keyboard

Nepali keyboard

Pashto keyboard

;# Languages #

;Arabic

Pashto

;Cyrillic

Bosnian_Cyrillic

;Indic

Nepali (Nepal)

;Western Europe and United States

Filipino

Frisian

Inuktitut (Latin)

Irish

Luxembourgish

Mapudungun

Mohawk

Romansh

It happens when you integrate KB897338-v3 hotfix or UpdatePack which contains it. This hotfix adds some new keyboards/languages, so it's logical with regard to nLite's tasks order:

  • nLite loads items list from existing i386\intl.inf
  • user selects items to remove
  • nLite replaces the old intl.inf with the new one + adds/updates files
  • nLite removes items from the new intl.inf based on the old list (=> new items remains)

I think that possible solution is to replace the old file with the new one before the nLite start, so all items can be shown and removed in one pass.

Hello

Nice software, very useful etc

So, i suggest those functions

- Take in consideration the $OEM$ Folder Structure or unattend files already in i386 folder (winnt.sif), for people who have already made an unattend CD.

=> For example, for the mass storage drivers (SATA), i integrate them manually (i prefer !), so after to integrate hotfixes, i use nlite. => But nlite when i checked "Automatisation" tell me that the existant parameters will be lost.

- Possibilty to add backup function for activation of XP (OEM) and WGA, because manually restoration, even not changing the pc ! doesn't work => For legally licence of course !

I hope i was comprehensible for the first point !

Thanks
