Windows XP Support Needed

Recommended Posts

If you've reinstalled and formatted your HDD and the problem still remains then it's gotta be hardware related so everything is definately NOT running fine. Obviously, something's causing your problem.

What about the first time Windows XP boots up after a clean installation (and you haven't installed anything yet). Does the problem appear then when you try to restart?

only my antivirus run (Norton) and still it take 10 mins to shutdown and than

restart after 2-3 sec.. mad.gif

Just figured..it could be your antivirus. Norton Antivirus,Ghost etc. is gotta be one of the crappiest software's out there according to me. Boy do they slow down your computer with all their services and startup things. Tried uninstalling it? Edited by Marthax

Have you installed the latest version of all the correct drivers?

What's the make and model of your mainboard?

A few things to try (do one or more and check if that solves your problem):

-Disconnect all DVD/CD-drives (both cables).

-Disconnect the floppy drive and/or card reader (both cables).

-Disconnect all external peripherals, except mouse/keyboard/monitor.

-Remove one of the memory sticks (if you have two).

-Remove all cards except the graphics card.

-Use another power supply (for example borrow from a friend).

-Use another graphics card.

-Use another harddrive.

Methodically try to eliminate all possible suspects.

I can understand Danish too, but that doesn't make any difference.

I'm very amazed your having this problem. So I would like to say one thing.

Try a different OS perhaps?

If that doesn't work, I would assume you have a defective motherboard. It's to do with power settings, I'm sure of it. I don't know if its already been suggested (I received well over 20 emails this morning about this topic :P) but try resetting BIOS defaults or best performance defaults. It might point you in the right direction.
