Petr
Hello,I've received very interesting information from local office of Microsoft (both in written and oral form):Windows 98 (4.10.1998) license entitles the license owner to use Windows 98 SE (4.10.2222) too.Legally bought media (CD-ROM) must be used, so you can either use the CD-ROM that you already bought for other computer, or you can ask Microsoft Fullfillment Service for new one (for administrative fee).Is anybody able to verify if this is opinion of the whole Microsoft or just our local office only?Petr
Ponch
Is anybody able to verify if this is opinion of the whole Microsoft or just our local office only?I've always thought so. I think even the serial would work for SE. That would be the evidence.
xtrm
The normal 98 serial works for SE - I have to know it, as I have used the first edition serial for 5 years now, 'cause I don't know where the SE manual is .
Jlo555
Ah **** it! I wish I had known that when I had like 2 copies of Win98FE lying around with their manauals. I finally got rid of them and kept the Win98SE manual, but I never thought to keep the serial numbers. My bad.
LLXX
It's always free, just a matter of being legal or not.Considering an 8-year-old OS that M$ doesn't even sell nor support anymore, I think the first issue is moot too.
galahs
I remember when Windows 98 SE came out, Australian Windows 98 users could upgrade to the newer version for $13 AUS. ($17 US)
