Hi! to everybody...

first to mention, i have a very poor english.

My PC specs are:

ASUS A8N-SLI DELUXE

320GB SEAGATE SATA-2 HD 7200.10 (Enabled to run as SATA-2 has a jumper to run as SATA )

300GB MAXTOR IDE

160GB SEAGATE IDE

AMD 64 X2 4800+ @ 2.4 GH

512 MB MEMORY STICK (i know, is too low in memory) PC3200 @ 400MHz

vLite makes my PC too slow, i dont use many programs, running only Firefox, StarOffice 8, Windows Explorer, MSN Messenger & sound manager (from ASUS) and taskswitch in the clock.

is it a memory stick issue?

or is vLite issue?

because is toooooo sloooooww

including to type in here, 4 characters need 1 second to showup!

I hope this help to improve vLite lots!!!

thanks!!!

It doesn't require much memory and your CPU is fast so my guess is some kind of virus scanner in the background?

Also if you're rebuilding the image that puts stress on the HDD, you may want to use the first Apply method next time.

REASON::: 512 MB memory

Bcoz firefox and star office are memory hungry

vista alone require abt 350+ memory (abt 3 mins after bootup on desktop)

firefox ~70

staroffce ~50 or more (it uses java too)

u dont specified abt grphics card if it is onboard it also take shared memory

I think vLite takes up a lot of CPU power and also a lot of memory. It is a heavy application .

Maybe nuhi (vLite creator) can add option for priority. Priority says how much cpu power vLite can use (lowest, low, normal, high, real-time)?

It needs so much memory because data from Vista DVD is changed. DVD is 2,5GB and so 256MB of memory in use is not so much.

Maybe that vlite is intensive or even hungry but an A64 X2 4800+ will always have enough CPU time to deal with keystrokes.

I don't know wether vlite is threaded or not but on my Turion64 X2 it doesn't take 100% of the CPU power.

Else the antivirus is faulty, else there's a malware.

while vlite's processing ur not supposed to do 'heavy duty' work neway. it really goes high on HDD read writes and ofcourse the system is bound to slow down till the time the task is complete. on my dual core 1gig sata2 it takes around 10 mins. Its worth the wait though ;)

A8N-SLI DELUXE does not include graphics card on board, i set the memory stick where ASUS recommends, on B1 slot.

xTASY 9200 PRO or you can call it ATI RADEON 9200 with 128MB on board.

Windows XP PRO SP2

i dont worry about staroffice nor firefox, had 75% memory free (not on the paging file there had more...)

Nuhi:

I dont have any firewall nor virus scanner, I dont need it because i redo my CD with nlite, thanks nuhi!. :thumbup

free virus

free worms

well...

free malware...

Windows XP is on 300GB Maxtor IDE

Vista CD Contents on 320 GB (SATA-2 enabled) on an NTFS partition, i reset the temp dir to an fat32 partition, first i had to create a new folder and name it temp, otherwise, vLite doesnt change the temp dir.

All that work was on the SATA disk.

i think that could take long to redo my CD but not to slowdown my PC.

ill do the first aplly, thanks nuhi!!! :thumbup:thumbup

and ill check on task manager.

another issue with vLite DVD: at the end of the installation, vista says, could not configure a device, need to restart and reinstall, this happens in another PC a DIMMENSION E310 wich i check with windows vista upgrade advisor, there says business ready, and the vLite DVD is Vista Ultimate, matters there?

thanks guys!!!
