Hmmm..forgive my ignorance, but I need to ask this question just in case...

When you say this latest patch "supercedes" all others for IE....are you saying it's the only one we need? Or are you saying that it needs to be installed last?

I have the following list of updates that are installed for IE and Outlook Express, maybe I'm installing updates I don't need?

Any help would be appreciated....

ECHO Installing Updates for Internet Explorer and Outlook Express...
ECHO Installing Update Q816506...
start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Hotfixes\q816506.exe /Q:A /R:N

ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE

MDAC patch didn't get installed....

What did I do wrong?

This is what I did:

I made an mdac.cmd and put it in the \i386\update folder.

I also added a single line that says mdac.cmd under [setupHotfixesToRun] in svcpack.inf.

I renamed ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE to MDAC_TYP.exe and put it in $OEM$\$1\Install\hotfixes folder.

This is what my mdac.cmd looks like:

start /wait %systemdrive%\install\hotfixes\MDAC_TYP.exe /C:"dahotfix.exe /q /n" /q

EXIT

I don't know why you renamed ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE to MDAC_TYP.exe, because ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE is an update for MDAC_TYP.exe

Install MDAC, reboot, then install the update. (MDAC from svcpack.inf then the Update on first logon)

I am having a problem with windows setup not installing my hotfixes from the svcpack.ini file

Setup takes note of the winnt.sif files (works ok)

Setup does not install the hotfixes from svcpack.ini and does not install/setup my user account.

Ok this is a copy of my svcpack.ini:-

[Version]

Signature="$Windows NT$"

MajorVersion=5

MinorVersion=1

BuildNumber=2600

[setupData]

CatalogSubDir="\i386\svcpack"

[ProductCatalogsToInstall]

[setupHotfixesToRun]

Q826939.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

Q330994.EXE /Q:A /R:N

JS56NEN.EXE /Q:A /R:N

Q823182.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

Q824105.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

Q824141.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

Q832894.EXE /Q:A /R:N

Q825119.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

Q828035.exe /Q /N /Z /O

Q811114.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

Q814995.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

Q820291.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

Q821253.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

Q822603.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

Q829558.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

Q816093.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

Q828026.EXE /Q /N /Z /O

DX9NTopk.exe

QCHAIN.EXE

I have placed this into the DOSNT.INI file:-

[Optionalsecdirs]

svcpack

If i copy the svcpack.ini to a cmd bat file, all updates work, so i think i may be missing something to do with telling setup to install my service packs....

I created the user account files and placed them in the $OEM$ folder, as detailed in the link given above...

Any ideas!

ner, you've named your svcpack file wrong, it should be inf not ini. That's why Windows doesn't install your hotfixes. Make sure you've deleted svcpack.in_ as well from the i386 folder.
