HOTFIXES: Win2000 SP4, WinXP SP2, WinXP SP3 and Win2003 SP2

Recommended Posts

I just slipstreamed SP2 and all the hotfixes on the list and tested it on VMWare. And Windows update shows now these updates as hotfixes:

KB927891

KB931836 [Nlite cant integrate, so use /q on SVCPACK]

KB923689 [Actually not needed if you slipstream WMP11]

So I think you should add these also to your list :)

Nilfred: Why do you think KB927891 is a trojan horse directly from Microsoft?

I have checked it out and it appears harmless. Only it has a DLL file to update the Windows Installer engine...

Not so harmless: May also allow "harmless" critical updates instalation without user intervention.

Version 3?: Why a V3 replaces not a V2 but an oldie never seen KB916089?

2 part?: Please note that this update is the first part of a two-part update that is the comprehensive solution to the problem. In June, another update will involve the Windows Update client. The update for the Windows Update client will also be automatically offered through Automatic Updates.

IMMO if there is any doubt then there is no doubt. I was expecting something like this from M$.

Will see what the 2nd part do this month (now)...

@NaDeR: It depends on what version of IE you have installed.

@all: The list will not be updated until Monday at the earliest because I have exams until then, so I will be studying.

@Nilfred: The part 2 is the Windows Update Agent v3.

@NaDer_GenKO: It's an 'old' update, but still not superceded by another one. See the release date (2/7/2007).

This patch updates the local time of many countries. It may be useful.
