the problem with adding it to the list, would be then it would get recognition and theproject is no more.

As a replacement for a selection program...

There is IceManD's Install prgraom.

There is also Wraith's XPDeploy. It's also a selection utility. It's in the XPlode subforum i believe.

IceManND's program is quite buggy and no longer in development...

XPDeploy? Never heard of! I'll look after that one!

That is however really unfortunate ! For me it works nice and easy to use too.

I have tryed IceManD's Install prgram before it was rally bugy.

Peoples says they better wait for version 3 too.

So i did not try IceManD's Installer the latest versions any more.

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=11061&st=170

And before IceManD's i used "techtype's" installer also canceled.

Im looking for someting easy to use like XPES.

I saw in the forum peoples says XPlode is hard to use. I don't know

So I did not try XPlode.

I have also read from the Post-install Wizard.

How about a good tip of you specialists ?

Thank you in advance

xplode is really easy to use.

the XML file it uses just just a batch file program down into parts....

if you read the documentation before actually diving in, you'll do really well. XPDeploy is just a compliment to it, to allow selection.

If you actually sit down, and look that the itself without going over peopels posts that say they're having a hard time because they didn't read to begin with, you'll be FINE.

I didn't really want to read all the previous pages (i got through about 4 pages then gave up)

I have a few problems/questions:

1) is this designed to be used during setup, or use it to create the batch files to use in an unattend cd?

2) howcome, if i try and choose the list of programs i want installed, i can only choose ONE PROGRAM? if I click on Acrobat Reader for example, and then I click on Nero, it will untick Acrobat Reader (and so on and so forth)???

3) can you add an 'ATI Catalyst' driver install option? so I don't have to go mucking around with the INI file?

I hope no one is forgetting about whimsy's WPI (post install wizard) which is really good and quite easy to use (even i figured it out)...

I have been using WPI for quite a while now and think it's great (as a selection program to choose what programs you want to install)

oh... one more question to add onto previous post

4) what are the DLL's that get registered as part of 'anti-spy' feature?

most likely not...unless you figure out a way.

I've contacted the creator and this is his reply:

QUOTE

Hi,

I am so sorry to tell you that I will no longer continue to code on XPES. This is mainly because of a lack of time. Currently I haven't even time to continue my other unattended installation problems/projects.

But if you look around at the forum there are a couple of other projects that are way better than mine. Although some of them seem as they are not that user friendly they atleast look better than my tool ;-)

Sorry for your trouble,

Nephilim

1. it is disigned to use batch files, but you have to create the batch files by yourself

1="%systemdrive%\install\Applications\AdobeReader6\AdbeRdr60_deu_full.exe -p"-s /v\"/qn\"""
2="%systemdrive%\install\Applications\AdobeReader6\Acro-Reader_6.0.2_Update.exe -p /S /v/qn"
3="/min %systemdrive%\install\DirectX9b\dx9bopk.cmd"
4="/min %systemdrive%\install\codecs2\register.cmd"

Use the /min parameter if you call a *.cmd file

2. If you choose the program, just klick one time at the "name" of the application

then it is ok.

3. You can also add the ATI Catalyst driver 4.6 works for me

--- REMOVED ---

As nobody asked for any features I will now officially declare XPES an unsupported product. I will therefore remove the tool from the webserver.

For those of you who would like to get in contact with me in the future PLEASE use the MSFN eMail feature as I am not that much around at the forums anymore.

Nephilim

P.S.: XPES, requiescat in pace.
