weasleyclark
Do you have to have the patched theme dll to run the themes?I just did that too, my theme doesnt even appear under the appearance tab. I had the patched uxtheme.dll copied over to system 32, via the $$\system32 option, but it gave me a warning saying that some windows files were being replaced, and it wanted to re install the ones from the cd. Is there a way to patch the uxtheme during setup instead of copying it over? Edited November 3, 2006 by weasleyclark
Ast
I used uxtheme patch in patch section of nLite and i also disabled file protection as it is recomended if u enable uxtheme patch.I think it is nLite bug.(nLite 1.2.1)Anyone else has same problem? rehbar
I know the solution of this . Perhaps it is nlite bug but i recommand you you use $oem$ folder to resolve this problem.Copy Uxtheme.dll file from i386 folder after complating nlite program.Note: you have to enable uxtheme patch in nlite and dos't create an iso. And oem preinstlled to enable from user input sction. Now copy this fil in this folder as below i type.$oem$\$$\system32\uxtheme.dlland now place $oem$ folder parallel to i386Will it work if so then reply me. nuhi
You with the themes problem do you have non-English Windows? And do you see the integrated themes in the Desktop Properties - Appearance?
Ast
My Windows is English version(Windows XP Proffessional). There were no integrated themes but after i restarted computer all my integrated themes appeared there.I added more info about this issue here:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=85906 Edited November 5, 2006 by Ast
Viscon
check winnt.sif file for this:[Shell] DefaultStartPanelOff = NoCustomDefaultThemeFile = "%WinDir%\Resources\Themes\xxx.theme"i might be wrong but something tells me that nlite misses the 1st entry under [shell].don't know for sure because i use another method to integrate my own theme.why? because nlite couldn't copy my wallpaper which is a part of my theme. damian666
hi ast, well i did tell you i would let you know huh!the solution is in the themes directotie that nlite makes : nlvst in I386.the themes and styles are not cab't right.when i extract them the filenames are cut off.so windows dont recognize them as themes.thats the proplem!so just cab them by hand and replace them.thats all there is! i did it that way and now it works like a charm!bye byedamian666
Ast
Thnx for the info damian666 Can u tell more? How shall i Cab them? All in one or one by one(theme by theme).Do i need to rename Cab file after that and when i shall do it before i add themes to nLite or after it but before making ISO? damian666
hi ast, well you have to recab them before you make your iso.and when you look in the folder you see that everything is cab't one by one.so you cab your theme, then your visual style and maybe your shellstyle, but all seperated!then you must make sure that you name them exacly the same!!!thats important because setup will try to search for that file.and then just replace the wrong files with your own cab't files.that is it.glad i could help. damian666
owikh84
I checked my WINNT.SIF and found this line:[Shell]CustomDefaultThemeFile="%WinDir%\Resources\Themes\My Theme (nL).theme"This causes my Visual Style not appear in Appearance tab of Display Properties. FYI, I only integrate the .msstyles instead of .theme and selected as default.I think the solution is to define the theme first and save it as .theme file and select it as the default theme. Don't select an .msstyles file as your default theme.
