celtish
Somebody explain something, please. If CHKDSK is so last why does Win9x always install it? And, in any case, when CHKDSK is opened all it does is display a DOS window instructing you to use SCANDISK.CHKDSK appears to be useless and pointless so why is it there? erpdude8
Win9x CHKDSK is totally USELESS on FAT32 formatted volumes. It'll detect FAT32 but will NOT scan it for errors and will tell the user to use SCANDISK to fix errors on FAT32 systems. However, CHKDSK can still be used to check floppy disks (which always use the older FAT file system) and other removable drives as long as the removable drives are not formatted with FAT32 or any other file system.
