Standalone/portable firewall

Hi, i've been looking for a firewall for a while that DOESN'T require a restart or driver installation - this is so that it can be portable.

I've tried many, but they all need system files, and can't be transported to another machine without installing them.

Also, any ideas on a portable bandwidth monitor, so that after reinstalls i can keep track of my downloads uploads overall?

PS:

sadly these require installation/drivers.

Thanks

[edit] i now see they have a new beta up about a week ago, ill have to check it out! :)

Winpooch 0.6.0

--------------

* Date : 11/06/2006

* From version 0.5.7

* Changed the whole spying system : now using kernel mode API hooking.

* Merged most of the changes from version 0.5.7 to 0.5.10.

* Added support for BitDefender antivirus.

* Added support for Libclamav, this makes Winpooch a fully independant

antivirus. (Thanks to Boguslaw Brandys for his help).

The virus signatures are automatically downloaded every 3 hours.

* Added background antivirus scanning.

* Added a new reason "Reg::QueryValue"

* Tray icon animation can now be disabled.

* Custom sounds can be used instead of default sounds.

* Fixed scrolling problems in several windows (filters, rules, trusted files).

* Corrected problem with relative path in clamwin.conf.

* Corrected problem with spaces in language files.

Given that a firewall has to hook the network API, it's not surprising that a driver would have to be installed. The hooking can be dynamic, however, although I have yet to see a firewall implement that functionality as static boot-time hooking is usually easier.
