wela Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 MS released a repair patch for MS06-049Its here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...66-8393DCAF8C00 Have a nice day
the_guy Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Just looked at the knowledge base article, and it replaces MS06-049 file-for-file.the_guy
Super-Magician Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 (edited) I'm assuming this is a critical update. Am I right?Edit: Or wait, I just read the KB article for KB920958. Apparently KB925308 was created to resolve an issue with the update. So, will KB925308 be needed until a revised version of KB920958 is available?Edit #2: According to you [the_guy], it replaces KB920958 file-for-file. But it is listed under a different description. In addition, the KB article for KB920958 says KB925308 simply resolves an issue concerning KB920958. This isn't really making sense for me . Edited September 21, 2006 by Super-Magician
Tomcat76 Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 It doesn't even appear on Windows Update -- at least it didn't today.I removed KB920958 from my hotfix page (sig), added KB925308 instead and labeled it a security hotfix.
Super-Magician Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I edited my post above a minute after you posted. Do you have a response?P.S. Your sig needs updating .
Tomcat76 Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 P.S. Your sig needs updating .Whoops... I knew I forgot something... The descriptions never make sense to me. MS propably released this as a separate hotfix because it isn't Patch Tuesday yet, or because it's important enough that "dummies" should see it clearly... but the latter doesn't make much sense since it would be shown on the Windows Update site in that case. My guess is they will update the KB920958 hotfix on October, 10.

I got KB920958 in the recycle bin right now. LOL.
the_guy Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Nope. 925308 includes the same files as 920958.the_guy
Super-Magician Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Thanks. Now it makes much more sense !
