need help on a laptop which was infected by virus

pls help me i cant seem tto log-on, on my laptop..this was the senario:

my computer was infected with a virus, then i installed a updated AVG anti-virus free edition and it detected all the virus that i got, after cleanning it AVG prompted that i need to restart my laptop in order for the virus removal to be successful, then i restarted my laptop and i cant seem to log on to the laptop... every time i log-on it logs-off automatically.... pls help me thanks.... :yes:

Put the hard drive in another computer as a secondary (laptop HDDs are smaller, but you can get adapter to connect it to a standard IDE 40-pin interface) and retrieve all needed files, then format and reinstall OS and programs. Restore backed-up files (ensure any executables are not infected.)

Don't forget to be more careful, or you may have to repeat the procedure again.

If you do as LLXX says, make sure that new host machine is running a current AV!

Try logging in as a different user as login issues like that are sometimes a problem with your profile.

You could also try booting into safe mode, running AV again, and rooting around for the login issue.
