sims 2 - registry

well if any of you have all of the expansion packs of the sims 2 then you know how much of a pita it is to install them all. what i want to try to figure out how to do is to just copy my reg entries for the game and the installation files and to magically get the game to run without reinstalling it. now does anyone know how to do this? i've already copied the reg entries into another installation of xp, i made sure the paths were right, but when i go to run family fun stuff, it says that the sims 2 isnt installed... if i try to install the latest expansion, again it says it isnt installed. so there must be some info somewhere else besides the registry, otherwise why can't i get this to work?

I tried doing the exact thing you're doing. I installed all the expansions and got everything in the registry from the Sims 2. The only thing that would work is if I installed all the expansions in the proper order and updated them in that order.

well i finally got it to work! this will save me lots of time in the future. too bad the vista drivers suck... the game crashed after 1min of playtime b/c an nvidia dll died on me.
