pcandpc
Hello?I am using an Asus P4XP-X boardfor my system.Sometimes, my monitor is not onat all at system startups; so, I haveto cold boot a couple of times tohave it on and working.I have another system (differentboard) connected via a kvm switch, and do not have this issue. So, I am wondering if this issueis specific to the asus board.By the way, the kvm switch isZonet's 4-port switch and the monitoris Hyundai V770+.Thanks. ripken204
what video card do you have? i dont beleive that this is a mobo problem, its most likely that the video card is not giving out a signal. how long as this been happening and how long have you had this system? have you tried changing the channel that this computer is in for the kvm? if its in 2 right now then put it in 1. and have you tried it without the kvm? big poppa pump
Looks to me like a cold boot problem. What kind of power supply are you using for this system, what brand and how many watts. Additionally also post your entire system specs!
LLXX
Also, what is the monitor and how old is it?

nitroshift
what video card do you have? i dont beleive that this is a mobo problem, its most likely that the video card is not giving out a signal. That is my guess too. Or maybe the graphics card isn't properly seated or there's a lot of dust around the card and its slot.
big poppa pump
This has got nothing to do with the video card or monitor. If he is able to get his computer running after a couple of attempts then I see no reason for these components to be faulty. This is a 99.99% a Power supply problem. Using a s***ty no name brand power supply is often the cause of these cold boot problems.
puntoMX
Sometimes it could be the thermalpaste too, but I´m with big poppa pump, try an other power supply and you will know ."**** newbies!"... , what can I say... we were all green one day... pcandpc
Hi all,Thanks for valuable feedbacks. The video card is fairly new (ATI 64MB)as well as the monitor (Hyundai IQ-V770+).I will try fiddling with the kvm switchas ripken204 has suggested. As a last resort, I will look into thepower supply replacement. pcandpc
Hi,Well, I just disconnected the kvm switchcompletely and connected the monitordirectly to the system. The same situation has just occurred.Monitor's power indicator light staysamber, not green, as if there's no videosignal/feedback from the video card duringthe system boot.Next, I look at the system indicator light, andboth hard drive access and system power indicatorlights are lit and stays lit.If the system is, somehow, chugging alongduring the boot process, I can, at least, blamethe video card, but the system appears to behung as well.I am just puzzled.Could a power supply be the culprit as somonespeculated earlier? But then, the power is supplied to both the monitor and the system even though they appear to be in sleep mode and hung respectively.Thanks.
