ZeroHour
HiGot a Dell GX620 (new this year) and I have enabled WOL in the bios. WOL works fine if you shut the machine down and the NIC stays active (LED is on) but when I hibernate the machine the NIC shuts down.Any ideas? Is WOL Hibernate even possible?Cheers
allen2
Perhaps you just need to enable for the network card in device manager "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" and disable "allow windows to shutdown this device to save power". pmshah
Hibernate is no different from normal shutdown as far as the power state of the machine is concerned. Only difference is that the memory state is stored on the hd to restore it when the machine powers up. Unless you are using static IP you can run into problems with networking. Wake on lan would be required for administrative purposes after hours when no one else is working on the machine.
