gamehead200
2.HDD and combo drive need different IDE-channelsYes!Never put your burner and your main HD on the same IDE port (data cable).CheersThis is a stupid question... Why?I have my main HD and my CD-RW drive on the first IDE cable and a second HD and my DVD+-RW drive on the second cable... No problems of any kind have occurred. (I have two burners because my DVD drive has problems burning CDs sometimes... DVDs burn fine.)
the_anomaly
well i havent always had problems with burning discs....its just that it wont write to my friends discs at all now... and the buffer takes a lot of time to fill up for my discs or at times the burning just gets stuck in te middle .....i'll try the jumper thing and let u knowThx

This could be one of those URBAN MYTHS jd

puntoMX
This is why I let the computer detect the drives always, same problems now as back in days of the 486 .
Scubar
If you have 1 HDD and 1 CD/DVD drive then they should be put on seperate ide channels, but if you have a combination then you should ideally put the HDD as masters and CD/DVD drives as slaves eg IDE0 : 1 HDD 1 CD/DVDIDE1 : 1 HDD 1 CD/DVD
