Customizing the Welcome (logon) Screen

Hello,

I have been searching through MSFN and the net for days looking for clear instructions on how to customize the Windows XP Welcome (logon) Screen. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Your response will be greatly appreciated!

you need to edit the "logonui.exe" file, in the system32 directory under Windows. There you can change the text "welcome" to whatever you want. I use a Vista-like logon screen (this is what you'll edit). The welcome page is part of the login page (there're two kinds of login pages: the Welcome Screen and the Classic Screen. Ok?!

Let me know if this helped you. Just don't forget that Windows would replace your custom logonui.exe if the windows file protection is enabled.

Anyway, we're here to help.

what i would actually do it make a copy of logonui.exe and call it something like myui.exe. edit that and place it back to system32 folder.

then change the registry string called uihost under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
