m16si Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I currently have Epox 8k5a2 4x AGP MotherBoard with VIA chipset and ATA controllerAnd my friend offered me this MB:Gigabyte 7N400s/l AMD Socket A 8XAgp (it has 8xagp, SATA, Nforce chipset,...)For just a few $$ !Is it worth it??????????Thnx
puntoMX Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 The Gigabyte is better then the Epox. SATA would be nice if you upgrade with an other HDD later. How much does your friend ask for it?
trickytwista Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 yep worth the upgrade if aint gonna cost you a small fortune
Fulvian Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 It depends... on how few that $$ is... Maybe something like $ 10 ?
Andromeda43 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 The biggest question I see there is "Do you have a Socket A processor?"You know, AMD doesn't make those any more. (old, out of date technology)Around here, anyway, those who have one for sale are asking twice the original price for them. You'd be better off with a newer Mobo that would take the new 64 bit socket 754 processor.Just a suggestion......I have a beautiful AOpen socket A mobo, but no processor and I don't want to pay $200 + for a socket A chip.Good Luck,Andromeda

AOpen S462 suc* by the way…
